It had been a busy day, and blessedly so. Enough on his plate to keep him from standing and dwelling for too long. The dinner had been a welcome surprise, despite the painful twinge it brought to his chest; Mass had been a new experience, and pleasant enough. (He would have to thank Jules for the invite later.) Small gifts exchanged, time whiled away trying to keep himself busy. Distraction was the name of the game, both for what had been lost and what was about to come.

He wasn't a man well-equipped for nerves; small wonder he spent his time buried in his job back in Inaba.

It was at night when he finally returned, closing the door carefully behind him. Last minute things, a bad habit he knew, but one of the harder ones to break. Even better to see that Roy was still awake; whether this would work to his advantage or not, he still wasn't sure.

"Nice out?" came the question, as he let himself out onto the balcony to join the other man, voice kept low, quiet all the while.

"Very."

Roy turned to smile at the man as the latter approached. He promptly offered his pack.

Good thing he had what he needed to give Dojima prepared now. That saved him time.

Dojima could have said the same, if his stomach hadn't been busy performing amazing feats of acrobatic ability. It was ridiculous; he hadn't felt this in years.

"That's good. Couldn't have asked for a better night."

A cigarette taken, lit, habit and routine guiding his hands. A quiet smile.

And he didn't say anything either, taking time with lighting up, nursing his own cigarettes. Nerves were pesky things, really.

He used the excuse of the lovely skyline to keep his gaze off of Dojima. Not that the man had to know that, of course...
