Characters: Lucy and Sougo Location: Lucy's room. Rating: PG Time: December 13th; mid-afternoonish? Description: Didn't you know? Going out on a date falls under the leash law.
Lucy was in the middle of giving herself one last look over before she heard a couple of curt knocks coming from the front door. Smoothing her hair out one last time, she murmured a soft, “I’m coming” as she headed towards the door, pulling a light jacket over her shoulders.
Half-realizing that she forgot his gift on the table, she retraced her steps tentatively before picking it up from the kitchen table.
When she finally got to the door, there was a shy smile on her face as she gave the usual, “hey." Though, she skipped over his name completely, sort of embarrassed about the whole thing.
Sougo regarded her calmly as she appeared, blushing and M. What was with that look? But he didn't comment, simply raised his hand in greeting. Everything was normal on his end, or at least he put on a very strong poker face to mask his own emotions.
"Ah, I got you something. I hoped to give it to you before we went..." he lifted the box, though paused when he took note of the one she had in her hands. Yeah, maybe it would be a better idea to let her go first.
Seeing him lift up his own gift box momentarily, she quickly interjected with a big grin. “I got you something too,” she picked up her gift bag, flipping through the translucent wrapping paper to unfold a pale colored scarf. “Since it’s cold lately and…” she held it out, waiting for him to bend down or lean forward.
For a moment, just a moment, there was a brief flicker of something on his face. The gift wasn't anything extremely special, but it reminded him of something his sister would have gotten for him. And likely with the same kind smile Lucy was presenting him. Sougo studied it mutely before he complied, bowing his head so she could place it on him.
"No. You're in luck..." he trailed off and paused, adding on an almost awkward: "Thank you."

Lucy skipped along the path, taking in the smell of the cold and slightly bitter winter air. She took in a deep breath of it, inhaling and exhaling until she finally gathered the courage to speak. “Tonight was pretty fun, huh,” she said it vaguely (as if it wasn't directed to anyone), and allowed her ‘huh’ to fall and drop into the silence.
It was strange how something like “heading home” left her feeling so disappointed.
There was one thing about Sougo that Lucy had probably learned tonight. He wasn't very happy in the cold. By the time they walked home, he had the scarf wrapped around his face and mouth -- and it didn't help that his hair was still a little damp from the whole trying to drown Kagura and Takasugi in the bobbing for apples bucket fiasco. So as soon as the fireworks were done, he was more than happy to get to the warmth of their building.
"Could've been worse," came the muffled scarf reply.
Seeing him wrapped up in the scarf like that was actually sort of … cute. But, straying from that topic in her mind, she carefully took off her jacket once she entered the building - folding it and holding it in her arms.
“I think you’d enjoy it more if you weren’t so wet,” she said semi-teasingly, reaching up to pick up a damp strand of his hair. Putting her hand back down to her side, she smiled. “But, thanks, Sougo. I had a good time, regardless.” And when she says regardless, she meant it to cover all bases (including the leash and collar).
Warmth, warmth, warmth, warmth. Sougo headed inside, gratefully accepting the warmth of Casualty Communal. He didn't make a move to take off any of his layers, unlike Lucy. But he did bring his hands out of his pockets, rubbing frozen fingers together until they started to get that pins and needles feeling of defrosting. His eyes followed her movements as she fixed his hair and he said nothing for a moment, walking toward the stairs and taking the first few.
"Regardless of you being in denial about being an M?" He gave her a side glance, stopping so that she could walk slightly ahead. Lady's first, as the saying went.
