The decision to drop by the Northern Lights was made on the spur of the moment; it probably wouldn't have crossed Raidou's mind if he hadn't talked about it with Iceland just a few days earlier. As it was, after another busy day at the Agency and preparing to move in a new apartment, grabbing something to eat on the way home didn't seem like a bad idea.

Raidou paused at the entrance, looking around. The atmosphere was pleasant. No wonder the place was popular among guests.

Roy happened to be returning to his seat at that moment. He quickly noticed Raidou; the boy was hard to miss, with his clothes and his hat.

"Kuzunoha."

This was another nice surprise.

"Oh, Mustang-san. Good evening."

He tipped his hat in greeting as he approached the man. Food could wait for a while longer.

"Taking a break, I assume?"

"Yes. A long one, in fact." Roy's smile was probably the brightest that Raidou had ever seen on him since they had met (again). "This'll be the second day of my vacation."

It felt oddly nice, saying that.

And company he'd get. Since Yuri wasn't exactly rolling in cash yet, he'd been forced to hold back on his usual urge to go out on the town when he got too bored at night - but that didn't mean he'd stopped entirely.

After a few hours of being bored after training, Yuri made his way downtown and wandered into a bar at random, intending to just unwind a bit before his shift started. Not too much unwinding, of course, or he'd be useless in the field, but Yuri knew how he functioned best. And right now he functioned best with a cheap, starch-and-meat dinner and a beer.

As soon as he'd ordered at the bar, he caught sight of Roy, which was a bit of a surprise. Yuri wasn't exactly used to seeing his 'commanding officers' in bars. He walked over, hand raised briefly in greeting. "Hey, you expecting company?"

"No, but company tends to find me here, it seems."

From the smile on Roy's face and the way he said it, it was clear that the Meister didn't mind at all.

"Back from patrol?"

Yuri took the smile as an invitation and sat down on the other side of the table. He shook his head slightly at the question. "Nah. Heading out for it in a few hours, actually. Figured now was my best chance to get some food."

"You made a good choice. This place has got a nice selection."

In retrospect, it was a little... surreal, not doing the rounds, checking up on people, browsing the network. He suddenly had so much time on his hands.

Mello didn't drink often, but he felt he deserved some indulgence in minor vice after the last week. He'd been fighting the urge he knew he had, no matter how much some people might think he lacked self-awareness, the one that screamed for action when he felt unsure, even if it was the wrong thing to do. Stopping by the bar was something else he didn't do often: a halfway point between extremes, between going straight home and avoiding everyone for a while, or taking his bike out and seeing how recklessly fast he could go on city streets. Middle ground was worth a try, wasn't it, when nothing else had made things easier here?

He spotted Mustang as he went into The Northern Lights, and while Mello wasn't certain he liked the man, he was someone Mello didn't want to make an enemy of, which was novel enough to be interesting. So when he went to the bar to order his scotch, he made sure to end up close enough to converse with him.

"Colonel," he said, with a brief nod.

Well, there's a moniker he hasn't heard in a while. Roy turned to face the person who had addressed him, and smiled the moment he noticed who it was.

"Morgan. It's good to see you on your feet again."

"I was perfectly capable of being on them all along, but my say-so wasn't good enough for the clinic, apparently."

He wasn't used to people being glad to see him, but his hyper-sensitive awareness of ulterior motives wasn't pinging at Mustang's reaction. Odd.

"Enjoying your time off?"

"Very, admittedly. It almost makes me wonder why I didn't take a vacation sooner."

A bit of a lie, that: he hadn't taken one because he had felt like he couldn't afford to. There were too many things to do, too many people to protect.

Still, they had been right. He needed time for himself. He needed to recover, if he wanted to continue doing what needed to be done.

"Why don't you join me? I'll buy you a drink."

After hearing various things from people, Hitsugaya was feeling more inclined to look into the Watch. Good or bad, he had little substantial information. Neku had told him to seek out Roy Mustang, and after asking around a bit, he was slightly surprised to find him at the bar.

Heading straight for Roy, the young captain spoke clearly, "Roy Mustang?"

"That would be me."

Roy blinked, eyeing the boy in front of him. No one he recognized... one of the newcomers, perhaps?

"You are?"

"Hitsugaya Toushirou," he answered, standing enough away from Roy that they could still talk, but not close enough to be considered intruding.

He crossed his arms across his chest and asked, "You lead the Watch?"

"It's nice to meet you, Hitsugaya. And that's correct."

He wondered, briefly, what this guest in particular could want. It was usually a head's up on joining the group.

[What was the fun of staying home, sleeping early when the night was young and the drinks were flowing? Come on, now! Roy, you're young and overworked; unwind a little.

[In fact, here's the person to help you with just that! Have one Zack Fair, who came in simply for food, but will stay for a drink or two, unless unhealthily encouraged for even a few more. Scanning the place for a free seat, he blinked a few times at seeing Roy.

[Huh. Who knew he had a life? But it was nice, seeing him out from behind the weight of that office and position, wasn't it? Strolling on over as though he owned the place, Zack took one of the chairs, turned it backwards, and sat down with a little straddle, arms folding on the back of it. He smiled, bright and happy, a little curious.]

And here I thought you were chained to your desk. Whatcha drinking?

Beer, the dark and foamy kind. [There's a friendly face.] I'll have you know that I unchained myself a few days ago for a vacation, Fair.

[Zack's hand darted up into the air, waving back and forth for two beers. Drinking before food? Alllllways acceptable.] I'm surprised they let you.

So, why didn't you take a trip? Get out of the desert? See the world for a few days?

It wasn't an option. Travel's restricted, to my understanding, unless one signs up for a mission.
