wow, sorry for the delay, i got dragged by a friend earlier.cashnotashJune 13 2011, 14:27:13 UTC
To put it simply, Iceland wasn't feeling well recently. Not physically, because he'd survived the attack and whatever (physical) injury he'd managed to acquire has started to heal, but emotionally. It sounds stupid and ridiculous and he's ashamed to admit it, even to himself, but it's true. BREW sent a lot of people home recently, and one of them was Rise. Some time after Gray, too. It was as if BREW was messing around with him or something along that line. Needless to say, it makes him feel incredibly morose, if not a bit angry. Instead of facing those emotions and deal with them properly so that they'd stop bothering him, he immersed himself in his work. And going out quite often to god knows where because: a) he need solitude, and b) he'd rather not have anyone poked their nose in and tried to cheer him up, even if the person in question is Alice. Of course, he tried his best not to go out that much because he doesn't want to leave her alone, and he doesn't want her to start asking questions either, but even when he's home, he's

It hadn't bothered her too much that he didn't send a message, in all honesty she had no reason to worry because he always came home eventually. Just like now, when she heard him at the door, Alice could feel the relief wash over her. He was back. Glancing over her prepared dinner to make absolutely sure that it was all finished, and of course it was, Alice then rushed to the door to let him in and greet him with a smile. Even if he wore such a dark look, she wanted to be that person for him to look forward to. The way he moved, the way he acted, she just wanted to help lighten the burdens he kept to himself and maybe take some of it off his shoulders

But it bothered him every time it crossed his mind, frankly. He knows her. It's easy to send her spiraling into Worryland and of course, he'd rather avoid doing so. Besides, he's worried about her as well, even though lately, this cloud of misery has been clouding up his mind, making it's hard to think about the things he usually think about and/or is high on his priority list. Thankfully, he's still able to think straight, which explains why he didn't do anything stupid like getting totally wasted and forgot to come home. Perhaps it has something to do with not wanting to worry Alice, again

Honestly, part of her might have already known that he liked to see her, and clearly there was more than just a normal friendship here. It just made more sense to not speak of it, though. If she didn't acknowledge it aloud, it didn't really exist, right? If she didn't pay attention to the looks he gave her, the smiles he made for her even when he didn't want to, and the way he spoke to her, then she wouldn't have to pay any mind to the way her heart skipped a beat at each of those smiles, the way her cheeks flushed with red when he spoke, or the weakness in her resolve when he looked at her. Even now, she had to force back that want to ask him what was bothering him just so that she had a reason to feel closer to him.
"Mm, it was interesting." Actually, there weren't many books she didn't become fascinated with but only when she didn't already ruin the ending for herself. Her sister wasn't there to ask about it, and for a second she lowered her eyes at the memory. 'It was all a dream in the end' Alice frowned then, looking up quickly
