The second was amount of people in this room. Some looked much like himself; confused, but uninjured. The others looked like they had run a marathon prior to this.
The third... The faint sounds of battle and a siren. Was something happening? This wasn't the church or Barsburg, of that he could be sure. It might have had something to do with the military attacking yet again... And here he was, without a baculus or-
"My zaiphon...?"
This was bad. This was very bad. But first... "Just what is this place?"

Looking around him, it seemed that he was underground, in some kind of mausoleum judging from the statues and size, but it had obviously long since been cleared out to be some kind of shelter.
"Just what is this place?"The question came from someone beside him. He looked over and there was a kid, looking about as confused as he felt. Regarding some of the others in the place, it seemed they weren't the only ones, but there were also others who looked definitely more lucid and some were out of breath ( ... )

Then facepalms.
Muttering quietly to himself, it takes a moment before he looks up to address the person who responded to the previous question. So Hakuren wasn't the only one who had no idea as to where they were... Not something that was all that reassuring.
Noticing the other man looking a bit worse for wear, he stops himself from saying something unintentionally insulting... The zaiphon he was used to was the attacking type, so he couldn't have helped. Nevermind that said zaiphon was presently not working. It probably had something to do with the sudden change in location, Hakuren just needed to calm down and refocus.
He hoped.
"Are you okay?"

'Shit, this isn't the boat I was s'posed to catch. See anybody that looks like they know why they're here?' This last was directed at the long-haired kid but he stood anyway, suppressing the urge to stretch all his joints as he noted, with some satisfation, that he still had his box and ring on him, his sword hand a comforting weight on his left.

"I think the most we can do for now is just...settle in and wait," he suggested. "I mean - there's not exactly a lot we can do right now against whatever's out there."

"Hm? Ah ... You're right, of course," He replied, offering the stranger a bashful smile as he reached up to absently scratch at the back of his neck. "I always did worry too much!" Abel blinked, and nudged his glasses a little further up his nose. How kind of this young man to approach him with the intent to console him! Then again, it was hardly a good sign ... it meant that he was letting his emotions run away with him again ( ... )

He felt just a little foolish asking his next question. "So...Rome, huh? Where's that?"

Wait.
He moved around the room, looking. Where were they? They weren't here? His pace picked up as he searched around the room frantically. No! They... they were stuck outside!
"I... I need to get outside!"

"The door is sealed," he said simply, closing his eyes again. "It won't be opened until the danger is passed."
He sighed. He almost felt bad for the man - but he wouldn't be able to defend himself in that madness. Even with the other Meisters running around, it wasn't safe for him to just charge off into a battlefield.

These people looked as though they needed reassurance, which was certainly not one of Mifune's specialties. He could handle children well enough, but to expect him to lie, and claim those who were not inside the shelter were in danger?
That was not something he could do.
"There are Meisters outside," he said quietly. "They will be working to protect those who failed to reach the shelter."

Even if she'd wanted to join the fight, there was no use going against the flow of civilian traffic that had all but pushed her into the designated shelter. (She'd been situated in the middle of a crowded square when the alarms had gone off.)
And well, being weaponless wasn't very convenient, either.
A twitch of displeasure pulled at the corner of her lips as she heard the sound of the doors shutting behind her--the sound of being caged in. Perhaps it was best to follow the instructions given her, but Naoto had never been one to pay much heed to her own personal safety.
Turning back towards the entrance, she caught sight of the swordsman and immediately weaved her way to him, offering out her hand though it wasn't exactly in greeting.
"If you'd let me borrow one, I might be able to help," she offered quietly, eyes glancing over to the bundle of katana in his posession.

"The doors are sealed. There won't be any need for battle," he said simply, flicking the needle between his teeth.
Of course, that didn't eliminate the fact that he still had them. She wasn't stupid - if there was no reason for alarm, the samurai wouldn't have had the swords with him at all. Nor would they be keeping at least two Death Scythes among their ranks.
He closed his eyes with a heavy sigh, lightly jerking the yellow tape that bound the case.
"Stay close. If something happens, it's safer if you're armed."

She closed her eyes for a brief moment, trying to decipher the muffled sounds through the thick stone encasing them. ...No good. The nervous chatter that filled the room made it near-impossible to hear the noises from outside.
"...Are these witch attacks pretty common?"
Not that she'd ever seen a witch, but the contract and sirens were probably installed for the same reason. If she was going to go through her end of the bargain, it would be wise to start learning about their opposition as quickly as possible; if they were the ones under attack, it meant the enemy already had an upper hand.

There was little point in explaining that until that point, he had been working for one of said witches. He had no allegiance to them - it had been a deal to ensure Angela's safety. And with Arachne's death and the disbanding of Arachnophobia, that contract was null and void.
"Since the death of the Shinigami. Before that, witches would not have dared enter the city."
The kid was strong, but he wasn't his father by any stretch. Not that he had any Soul Perception, but he could feel the difference in their auras - a different type of energy, but telling nonetheless. They would have to keep him protected until he could reach that level himself - if that was possible.
From the sound of the distant explosions, he wondered how much of a city there would be left to protect.

He never liked crowds. It was too easy to get lost crowds, and with all of the new people he only felt more out of place. Hiro frowned and moved over to sit against the wall, alone, like how it usually was.

Walking over to where the other blonde was, he leans against the wall next to him momentarily before he speaks up.
"This is unsettling, isn't it?" A pause, "were you waiting for someone?"
Reply
"No, I'm not," he said. For a moment, Hiro considered continuing, saying that no one ever bothers with him much. "...It is weird, I guess. For the people who haven't been here."

There's a pause before the apprentice bishop asks, "So you're from this... world?"
It was odd, thinking of this place as world completely alien from his own. From what he's seen though, not one person seemed to be dressed the same way he was and the odd looks he received when he mentioned the Seven Ghosts...
"Do you have any idea as to who's attacking us?"
