Sitting in his room some day could feel like a prison. Surrounded by papers that lined the walls, books that he would trip over now and then it was maddening. Somehow it all seemed more tolerable with Gramps around; he was always more organized than Lavi was. At night when he tossed and turned, trying to find a position that wouldn't make his shoulder ache, he'd give up and leave the confinements of his paper house and walk. Recovery had been smooth and when he could finally start to move his arm more freely he had begun to exercise it. It wasn't much, but it gave him something to concentrate on.

Coming back from the lobby he didn't mind the lack of lighting in the halls. It wasn't like there wasn't around-

He stopped. Instead of speaking out he stood there in the middle of the hall and stared down at Rhode, waiting.

Rhode didn't notice him for several moments, focused on the carpet a few meters ahead of her instead of the distance down the hall. When she did glance up, her steps faltered, and she almost kept walking. Almost. He was standing between her and her room, and if she turned around and walked away, he'd be just as likely to chase her down.

Just imagining another fight with this idiot made the side of her head ache, pain still lingering in the spot where he'd kicked a nice crack into her skull. Rhode forced herself not to touch the bandage on her nose, crossing her arms over her chest as if she were warding off a chill.

"Conscience keeping you up, Bookman?" She kept her voice soft, not wanting to wake anyone quite yet. If he came at her, she would scream bloody murder without a moment's hesitation.

"That's funny coming from you, princess." He smiled at her, obviously being sarcastic. "Lost? Maybe I can help you back to your room~" He couldn't deny it was fun to mess with the girl, after everything she did. Not even Allen's words could properly dispel the urge to pay back all the damage this demon did to him.

And to his.... friends.

A dark little smirk crept onto her face. "I know where I am. And if you touch me, I'll wake up every person in this hall." Rhode glanced to the doors on either side of the hall, gesturing aside with one hand before she stepped forward. She was aware that she was challenging him, but she had no intention of letting him chase her away from her room- Or following her to the door she slept behind every night.
