Re: I. Outer Residential Quarter One (Katsura, Vriska, Cheshire)novelvisionMarch 19 2011, 13:15:36 UTC
[Katsura's patrol that day had begun uneventfully enough. He knew his patrol area by heart now but he had a good reason for keeping a look out for any trouble makers today, following Roy's post on Vriska still being at large. Nooks, crannies, rooftops...as he had little idea of the way Vriska operated and he had his suspicions that she might have more than just natural stealth on her side, he relied more on his instincts to detect any anomalies within his zone.
Beyond scouting, he was also aware that he did not have his partner with him, placing him in a precarious position if she should happen to have one.]
It was well that he did. Vriska's aversion to the sun and love for the shadows--and the things in them--meant that even in the pale, thin darkness of early evening, she wove her way through back streets and alleys, setting herself up in spidery nooks or hidden places when she chose to settle down and ranging farther and farther afield as the night went on.
She was considerably less subtle right now, however; unfortunately (or fortunately, depending), her obnoxious fat furbeast of a Weapon had found her yet again and had come to harass her, making it much harder to get any sort of decent space.
Hopefully Selendis is on the lookout, because her partner has lost no time pulling up the map for their district and organizing the Financial/Services crew along the border in the most obnoxious possible way. Ahh, trolls. But he seems to be sure of himself, more lively and energetic than he usually is. This is the sort of thing that comes naturally to him, and say what you want about his mouth or his attitude, he has a plan and shit's getting done.
Still, it'd be a really good idea if one of them was keeping an eye out for any maniacal troll girls or amoral cats that happen to come by this way...
she's got 99 problems, and alien females are basically all of themjusticeisdueMarch 21 2011, 00:00:00 UTC
Selendis is definitely on the lookout, considering how Karkat threw himself into the organization of the hunt. She's glad for his devotion, because now she can focus all her energy and attention into finding Vriska. She wants to be watching from the rooftops, but it's unlikely the troll will go that high. Besides that, she doesn't want to go too far from Karkat, for his safety and their convenience.
Still, every time he stops to check the network, she walks ahead before doubling back to him. When she stops, she's listening as best she can to all the open minds in the immediate area. None of them are Vriska, or even remotely hostile. She's becoming restless - this needs to end soon.
Bluh bluh, huge bitching. Suck it up, Selendis! This'll be fun! visioneightfoldMarch 21 2011, 02:20:03 UTC
Sadly, the composition of the 'immediate area' was prone to sudden fluctuations, it's definition entirely relative.
Which is why neither of them should have been terribly surprised when Vriska stepped through a portal about thirty feet from them with a strange expression on her face.
It looked something like a combination between a disgruntled scowl... and an exultant smirk.
III. Everywhere Else (Jade, Reserves, Vriska, Cheshire)thewarisoverMarch 19 2011, 12:12:53 UTC
[Watch folks are now guarding the borders of their area, leaving Selendis, Karkat and Katsura to try and herd Vriska where they want her to be. Jade is tracking Vriska now, with Train to watch over her.]
Jade really doesn't know what's going on -- why won't it work? -- as she presses her hands to her glasses and tries to activate the magic or science or whatever that make her spectosooth goggles work.
She frowns and puts her hands down, shaking her head. ]
I'm sorry Mr. Roy. I thought I could help, but...
[ She's down, but not out. A determined look crosses her face. ]
[Currently positioned on the rooftop of the building that offers that best view over the entire area of the choke point. He's got his headset on, listening for any transmissions and waiting on data.
For someone who's heading a manhunt, he seems pretty damned calm.]
[Train had picked a rather specific place for holding his little stake-out with Jade; open-street, very little surrounding cover, and as few buildings as possible. Extremely visible - intentionally so - but visibility works both ways. It's only going to be a matter of time before they're going to be forced to fight.]
She here yet...? [Bored. Train, for one, is impatient to get to it already. If Vriska isn't here, she's off terrorizing someone else. He masks his restlessness well though. His arms are folded behind his head languidly as he paces about seemingly idly, one eye closed.]
[It's a feigned idleness. His ears are pricked and the other eye lazily scans about with piercing clarity. He has amazingly keen senses, and short of flight and invisibility (or a certain something else) he'll notice the second Jade is in danger.]
Or at least, that's what it looks like; in reality, a map of Death City is running through her mind, following the erratic hops of Vriska as she evades the rest of the Watch.]
She's getting closer! Not really close to us yet, but be careful, okay?
[Close enough; Vriska's hard to track, and Jade's trying to switch back and forth between the dark blue soul that's hopping around the entire city and the black soul standing beside her. After everyone's various encounters with Vriska, she wanted to know the moment something like that happened to them.]
[He nods absent-mindedly. With as much subtlety as possible, he eventually clicks off the safety on his holstered pistol. Apparently this chick can move around quickly, so may as well be prepared now rather than too late.]
[He'd rather be in Weapon Form now, but Jade has to track Vriska. Truthfully, he's a little uneasy about this whole deal. That psycho is going to show up soon and it's entirely up to him to protect Jade. The one girl who's nice to him and who he's quite quickly coming to care about.
One girl like that had died at the hands of a sword-wielding maniac because of him before.]
Are you gonna be alright? [He hopes she says yes. The only reason he hasn't asked her to be his partner is that any partner of his has to be capable of not dying. This is... not exactly an ideal situation, considering.]

He slipped out of the shadows at the edge of an alley and bounded between Vriska's legs, weaving as he rubbed against them.

[Speaking without looking at her for now. They're both set on what they're doing.]
