Whether it was the alcohol that was fueling him or his own emotions, Prussia really didn't know. However, his eyes flashed with great anger once Germany was done with the history lesson.

"Russland." He repeated flatly, resorting to German for the rest of the conversation. Suddenly, things were sort of piecing together. The last Russia came from 1943, right? That was in the middle of World War II.

Before the wall. Before the separation.

"West. When Russland was here..."

His brother had the impressive ability to ask all the difficult questions, and in succession. Germany refilled his mug and took a comfortable drought to buy him some time before he needed to answer.

"He was very angry," Germany conceded finally, not looking at his brother because Germany wasn't that brave. "I told you before that he would do things to us after the war. It seemed... important. To try and do something about it here."

This time Prussia knew it was the anger that was driving his actions. He had grabbed Germany by the collar, and leaned into his face, not taking away his voice. "Idiot! You're a damn idiot!"

To be honest, Prussia wasn't so angry with his brother as much as he was angry with himself himself. Prussia had to have Germany protect him because Prussia failed in his future. It was shameful. He was the elder brother. HE was the one that should be preventing a repeat of their history. He slowly let go of West, the alcohol now getting to his brain. It was harder for him to hide his feelings that way. "Is it hard to trust me?"

Germany didn’t flinch, having expected this sort of reaction - and besides, his brother would never actually hurt him no matter what he did, even when he deserved it. That had always been the way of their relationship, the reason why he and Preußen were still strong together unlike all the other elder-younger siblings among the countries.

But this, he had not expected. He had expected the anger to be directed towards him - Germany knew full well that his actions had been idiotic at best, an utter shame to his own country and brother at worst - but not for his brother’s frustration to be directed onto himself.

“I trust you,” he said awkwardly, wondering if he should hold his brother or approach him in a different way. Germany ducked his gaze instead. “With my life.” A big thing, for a country. “You… protected me in the future and took the blame for the war. It seemed like such a small thing to do in return.”

Oh... so that was it.

"West..." Prussia leaned forward and lightly bumped their foreheads together, forcing Germany to look into his eyes. It was a habit that he developed ever since Germany was little, and it was one he kept even now. Of course, it was harder to do so when Germany grew up to be taller than his older brother, but Prussia kept the habit anyway.

"You're stupid." He replied.

Germany really did take after him, didn't he? Shouldering the work on his own and keeping the other out of trouble... they both shared that trait. Although the two of them were as different as black and white, they both shared shades of color as well.

Prussia couldn't help but give a sheepish smile.

"Just like me."

His brother really was the stronger one between them. Even in a situation like this, Germany couldn’t help feeling his youngness. It was hard to believe that he had once been any sort of empire of his own, never could stand on his own two feet, always needing Preußen by his side. It was fortunate that his brother wasn’t going anywhere. Not if either of them could help it. And unlike the other countries, he did not doubt the fact at all.

“Ja, I got it from you,” he replied lowly, moving his forehead to Prussia’s shoulder where he would feel less exposed though no less embarrassed, and putting an arm under Prussia’s to hold onto his brother’s other shoulder. It was the closest he would get to initiating any sort of embrace, since he wasn’t given to affectionate displays.

It was warm. Extremely warm. He was still unhappy with what Germany had done with Russia. In fact, Prussia wanted an apology for it, but he knew that Germany would never apologize and with good reason. West did it to protect his brother and there was no way he would feel sorry for doing it, and Prussia knew Germany would do it again if he could. Prussia was also the same. He, too, would take the blame for Germany over and over again as long as it meant he would grow up as a fine country. And he did. He really did.

He wrapped an arm around Germany's back, not afraid of manly hugs. He smiled a real smile and said it loud enough for Germany to hear.

"Happy Unity Day, brother."

No, Germany would never apologize for his actions nor would he ever regret it. Just as Preußen would be strong for him, Germany would also be strong for his brother. They were alike that way. Or rather, that was how Preußen had raised him, and there was no reason for him to go against what to him was already second nature.

But the words Preußen said dropped a large lump in his throat. He hadn’t realized how much the day had bothered him until Preußen’s greeting (greeting him without having experienced what it was - yet Germany couldn’t think of it as anything but sincere) and words fled him. He pressed his face into Prussia’s shoulder and tightened the embrace, muttering something vague in reply that might have sounded like the same greeting in German.

A bit of laughter escaped from his own mouth although it was hard to do so. He was also filled with a lot of emotion from this entire conversation although he didn't want to admit such a thing. He was too manly for that! Ha!

...still, maybe it didn't hurt to hug a bit longer and return the same sentiments. He ruffled his brother's slicked back hair, grinning, and also replied in German. "Tonight is a celebration, yes? So let us drink tonight and have a good breakfast in the morning."

“We will drink until our bellies distend and we get a hangover in the morning,” Germany agreed, also speaking the same language. He wondered dimly how long it had been since he had been able to do this. Germany had always been a reserved one, even as the child-like German empire.

“In the future,” he offered, “I am still West.”

Germany had to stifle a smile at that. Even if Preußen did not really know what his future would be, he trusted Germany enough to be certain of what he said.

"I know." A pause. "Of course." Still him and still there.

[ For the Oktoberfest, he'd rather not bring his partner. She was probably against the idea of drinking 'til drop, especially when it comes to him, since she sometimes forgotten just how old he actually is and treats him like a kid. Suffice to say, he wasn't happy with that. He didn't tell her that he was going, so you can say that he's running away from Nura. Hopefully she didn't pop out of nowhere. If she did, hopefully she didn't spot Iceland.

Anyway, the only reason he's here was because of free food (even though they were all German food. Not that he had anything against German food, and it was Oktoberfest in the first place anyway, but still) and of course, the main attraction, free beer. Who could resist such combination? Clearly not this particular Nordic Nation.

Here he is, drinking in a corner, watching the crowd and on the lookout for his partner. Hopefully he wouldn't be too drunk when you found him. ]
