[OPEN][LIVING QUARTERS][SEPTEMBER 2] thewarisover August 31 2010, 05:32:36 UTC
Roy had been one of the first to receive the news, of course - unsurprising, given what he did for Shibusen and how concerned he was with staying on top of things. It had been a test of will on his part to keep from marching around and seeking Winry Rockbell and Miranda Lotto out for himself.

If for anything, though, the past ten years had taught him patience, and the importance of making sure to Proceed as Usual in light of world-breaking events. As such, Roy was coming in from his latest patrol round above ground, pushing his hood back, trying not to sigh.

He was tired, yes, but that wasn't going to stop him from checking up on the people who mattered to him. There weren't too many of them left now.

Celty tracked Roy down easily enough, having checked the patrol schedule before even trying to locate the man. She approached with a little wave of greeting, a gesture that had become a little something of a custom, as the years passed.

Custom was right. Who would have ever thought that they'd end up becoming that close?

"Hey." Roy smiled at the other, feeling a little less exhausted now that he was seeing a familiar face. "What brings you down here?"

The face part was debatable, though her helmet almost stood in for one pretty well, at times.

She shrugged, fishing in the pocket of her jeans for her old communicator. The device no longer connected to DEMISE or anything like that, hadn't for years, but she still found it useful for face-to-face communication.

'I had some letters to deliver. You've heard, right?'

She didn't doubt that he had, of course, not after knowing him for this long.

CLOSED. September 6th. Hughes' Room. everyonecried August 31 2010, 07:27:56 UTC
Would've turned up sooner or later, was all Hughes had to think about it. Much, much later, if he thought longer than he was required to - and he often did, so that would be how it fell ( ... )

Xanxus walked briskly to Hughes' room, hands discretely moving inside his pockets, thinking. Planning. Setting things into schemes that he can return and re-arrange at will. He's played a careful balance between the varia and both sides right now, and while it's in danger of collapsing with just one move -- there's always something, so far, that's kept things in check. So far.

He was aware of Kasai hovering behind him, like his shadow, but nothing like -- well. Him. A sore name for a sore memory. A dull pain. Things that he really shouldn't be bothering himself with even now. He has a job to do, and he's going to do it well. That is all that matters right now, especially when each point, each decision made keeps them one day away from eventual death ( ... )

Wherever Xanxus went, Kasai went - or so it had gone for the last ten years, on and off in the early days, more consistently in the later ones. He was always there in that almost-cloud of smoke that was starting to take its toll (had been for a while now) and now was no different. Even in the hidden streets of Shibusen he let the smoke trail behind him as they stalked toward one particular room.

Rumors weren't really a specialty for him, but you heard them no matter where you went. He heard about mysterious figures, about time travel, and it made him laugh. Really? Of all the cliches to set into action after all this time, it went with time travel? He didn't automatically disbelieve, but it was a strange thing to consider. Time was a flighty bastard, now, wasn't it. Why bring it up now, of all times ( ... )

Smoke - that was a nice smell, a familiar one. Not so familiar to the face, but Kasai was a shadow Hughes had come to expect with Xanxus, and he finally straightened up his chair as the two entered, hands falling to his needs to lean forward, instead. He couldn't help but be full of movement, especially after this development; but at least all of that energy would be channeled into actions rather than words ( ... )

CLOSED. September 7th. Holmes' Lab & Room. everyonecried August 31 2010, 07:42:16 UTC
"Hey!"

Maybe tunnels weren't meant to be shouted in, but it wasn't really shouting-- just a raised, projected voice, aimed right to the other side of the doorway. He had a thinly wrapped package of bread under one arm and a raised fist rapping on the door with the other, body tilted so one foot was closer to it than the other, easily able to catch sight of the room and the hallway at the same time. Which was a good thing, seeing as he'd sometimes end up standing out there for a while (through no fault of anyone's ( ... )

"I noted that tenth step one, but not the bit about impatience. Probably because I was impatient." The glare was met with a real smile this time, not just a reflection of one - he'd never taken the man's scowls personally before, and he wasn't about to start now. "But that you can hear me makes it all a lot easier."

He did let himself follow without the spoken command, too, left hand shifting to hook on a jacket (not his Amestrian jacket: that had become his 'formal' wear) as he did so, head tilting just a fraction in curiosity. But the curiosity was always there, when he was around Holmes-- regardless of any returned feelings (they weren't malicious, Hughes knew, nor particularly discontent), the resident chemist never failed to be interesting.

And you're having a good day, he wanted to remark back, but that was just a bit too out of line for Maes. Instead, his voice maintained its cheer ( ... )

Colette was slowly adjusting more to the life around Shibusen and Death City as a whole. She would have had to, after ten years now. Caramel, no longer the tiny puppy everyone would have remembered when the Chosen first acquired hier trotted along beside her, coming for a walk as she explored and went to see if anyone knew more about Yuuri and the others that had apparently shown up the day before. She was still partnered with Shishito, now having reached Death Scythe status for her Weapon, and much more adjusted to a different fighting style when using him for so long. She wore similar clothes to that which she had arrived in, though of course the original tunic and mantle no longer fit, nor did the boots, but it was similar enough that she was content with it, as well as having let her hair grow out a little more over the years. If it got in the way too much, she merely tied it back.

Those from the past? Clovis his head bowed slightly at the news. It also meant that their faces could be taken from the mural that he had painted for those souls that were lost. Good news, but how sad it was for them to see their future as it was. His hands folded neatly behind his back, closing his eyes as he walked through the hallways. What a shock this must all be for them. Still, I believe Spirit would want to raise their hearts in some way so that they need not feel heavy at the sight of what has become of Shibusen.

His eyes opened as he decided -- knew -- that Spirit would believe that so long as that there were those that were willing to fight against the Witches, that there was still hope for the future. It may very well being a losing war, but he would not allow that to destroy his optimism for preserving the lives of those that the now passed Deathscythe loved. The city is not as you remember it, but I've been saying such for awhile. I have been doing what I can to ensure that it is as safe as it could be. A pause. To ( ... )

Colette turned at the sound of the other's question, Caramel also turning and raising one ear at Clovis's voice, immediately on the alert and defensive after being exposed to such violence in the past since Colette found and kept her. "Oh! Yes, I am. I don't like keeping her in the rooms all the time. Dogs need exercise the same, if not more, then we do, after all!" she replied with a small smile, trying not to outwardly show how worried and confused she was about the situation.

"I see." Another smile as he knelt down so that he could pet said furry companion on the head. "I hope the hallways are able to give her enough exercise. I would be sad otherwise if she couldn't properly enjoy herself."

The sentiment went to Colette as well, of course. They were offered such rare moments of peace, so it would be nice if everyone could enjoy them to the uttermost. Clovis supposed that he had matured quite a bit since his rather noisy twenties. A lot calmer and patient with those that were around him, having left a lot of the entitlement that he felt behind. Somehow, it may have sound silly and conceited to think so, he felt that he understood Schneizel and Cornelia just a bit.

"Since we are walking the same way, may I join you two?"

It always took a bit to adjust to Shibusen after a ride. The bright desert suddenly became dim corridors; he'd tripped over uneven ground more than a few times that way. But it was cool in here, and the closest thing to 'home' that Kida had, so it was nice to be back from the delivery. The helmet hanging from the bat sticking out of his backpack swayed gently as he walked gamely down the dim 'hallways' of Shibusen, keeping an eye out for friends ( ... )

Mikado and Anri had been waiting for Kida and Celty to return - no doubt the buzz from the young disappeared returnees had brought them here with plenty of letters. The list of those who had come and gone or disappeared was so long, and they from so long ago - from when Mikado had barely been in Shibusen at all - that it might have thrown even Mikado's memory for a loop. But Edward's loyalty had kept Winry's memory strong, so he didn't have to dig in his brain very long at all to remember their identities. He hoped the shock wasn't too great to handle for them - if only there were better news. It was a wry sentiment.

More importantly for now, Masaomi was safe and home again. He and Anri had headed out right away in hopes of catching him early.

"Here's hoping he's not missing anything," Mikado grumbled to Anri, though the sentiment was light... if only because he was already fairly certain he wasn't, in fact, missing anything.

Anri had been a little lost in her own thoughts. The drone of "Saika" was barely a whisper to her at the moment, drowned out with idle wondering about the surprising new arrivals-returns, more accurately. Maybe they would even be able to visit . . . Edward and Shizuo must have seen them by now.

She blinked, glancing up at Mikado tensing uneasily for a moment. ". . . Maybe he didn't stop for any fights this time," she finally said. It was possible given the news that was traveling about now. There were a lot of reasons to pass information quickly now.

Kida wasn't used to rumor proceeding his returns enough that Anri and Mikado would have a heads up on his arrival, so he wasn't looking for them as he walked, instead just heading in that direction; with few exceptions, their place was virtually always his first stop.

But he isn't so lost in thoughts that he doesn't see them approaching, familiar, dim shapes in the tunnels. Kida grins and bounces onto the balls of his feet with a wave in their direction before jogging to meet up with them.

"You guys are on top of things. Everyone's already talking, huh?"
