People you could trust to watch your back. Her lips pursed as she made her way to her room for another round of restless sleep. The others have yet to ambush her, much to her relief, but tonight seemed to be the end of that small space they allowed her.
Or not. It was just Hope. She closed the door behind her, wariness and discomfort slowly replaced with resigned fondness. How long and how often had he been doing this, waiting up for her? She picked up the blanket and unfolded it as silently as possible and draped it over her young companion.
She... must have worried him a lot.]

Light...? [His recognition was slow, and for a moment he wasn't sure if he was actually awake or not. But he soon registered the fact that Lightning was really there, and that forced him into wakefulness.
Eyes widening, his first reaction was to shoot a hand out and clamp it down over her wrist, trying to prevent her from slipping away again. A moment passed, and some part of him saw the foolishness in thinking he could ever manage to keep her there if she didn't want to stay, and he let go, face flushed.]
Er...L-Light, I... [Awkward trailing off. So much for the three hours of mental preparation. The truth was, as much as he adored her, Lighning was intimidating, even more so in person and when she was possibly still angry.]

You're on the wrong bed.
[The barest attempt at humor; it was only after she spoke them that she realized that it could be taken wrong, a slight at Hope's person. That wasn't her intent.]
... did you wait long?

[Sitting up, Hope glanced down at the she'd laid over him. He didn't think she was really upset about it -- she wouldn't have been so obviously planning to leave him there if she was. Still, he went to get up to move to his own bed, trying to speak casually. He didn't want to sound like he was accusing her of avoiding them, after all.]
Not too long. It's late, though... [A hesitant glance up at her.] ...Where've you been?
