[CONRAD AND YUURI] thespazzyfrog July 11 2010, 09:21:44 UTC
Spell done, she decided to proceed to the next order of business, making her way out of the alleyway and to a bigger, but still-unpopulated street.

Yuuri hadn't gone on the mission, regardless of how much he'd wanted to, but the young Maou had gone there to see the others off. Conrad had been nice enough to accompany him as well, and it was something that he had happily accepted. Knowing that Sara was going on the mission made things hard enough, but having Conrad's calming presence helped to keep him settled despite the worries he felt.

What little sense of calm he'd found didn't last for long, for on their way back towards the communal building, the sky opened up and began raining frogs down on them. They weren't just any types of frogs, but more like-- exploding dog frog things! The moment that they'd begun landing down, Yuuri had instantly followed Conrad's order of running ( ... )

Had the kid seen her doing the spell? Had she been identified as a witch? Eruka wasn't sure, but she wasn't going to risk letting this boy raise an alarm for her. It was too soon, and it would make the frog storm moot. Unfortunately, she had also been far enough to not hear his wild calling.

What should she do then? What could she do? Without hesitation, she summoned one of her large tadpole to her side, all fangs and viciousness, and sent it after him.

That little skirmish over and done with, Eruka sighed and made the rest of the way to the agency. She had seen the location of the place on the map, had traced and memorized the way there via the convenient back alleys Death City had. It would take a while, but hopefully the frogs and other things would have thinned the guards down on the place.

Light had arrived at the detective agency with time to spare, makeshift sword already soaked with frog guts, gore and whatever else they exploded into. She looked around for any of her companions before moving on to do her duty.

She'll look for Raidou later. For now, she had to make sure that the building was secure. It's when she was wandering around that she noticed the other woman - Raidou told her that no one else was supposed to be here other than himself and her party.

"Who's there?"

Thankfully, Lightning had made the right decision. Raidou really didn't need to be found, especially since he was already on the alert and moving through the area to check if any suspicious characters had to do with the sudden onslaught of frogs.

The boy detective turned the corner on the opposite end, just in time to see the strange woman that Lightning was addressing, and Lightning herself. He paused immediately, eyes narrowing, hand quietly going still. He could summon Naoto the moment things got difficult, but... for now...

Couldn't they tell she was a witch? The hat should have been telling. It wasn't like any of the usual Death City flies looked like her, either. Eruka sometimes wasn't sure what this war would come with, what with stronger witches using the weaker witches as their pawns and Shibusen bringing in useless guests to be their pawns. A war of stupid pawns wasn't really going to work.

Despite her general apprehension of the entire operation, Eruka regardless brought forth one of her larger tadpoles. Large, shiny, fanged thing. It was hurtling towards Lightning in an instant.

[CRANE] thespazzyfrog July 16 2010, 02:35:36 UTC
Eruka was taking too long. The dogs of Shibusen would be upon them soon, and Eruka still hadn’t managed to release the Crane. Or was it the Crow? She had forgotten, forgotten with the scent of Death City’s soil she could smell through her pet’s nose. Dry soil, soil built on the bones of her kind.

The large mole dug through the earth, blind except for the instructions of its witch master outside the city. There was danger, blood and poison everywhere, but also meat. It was difficult not to surge up and feed, but it resisted the urge. Mistress wanted the Crow. And the sun was out, anyway, it reminded itself pensively.

Yes, too much sun. Stop here and take the bird. Don’t kill the bird, another reminder. The mole dug its way out of Crane’s cell floor, and climbed out, almost filling the entirety of the cell with its bulk. It was large, and the fur on its back stood out in dirty, ugly patches. A witch pet past its prime. Its eyes were milky white, its gums black, and its large teeth yellowing in the light. There was a stench unlike ( ... )

Seemingly he couldn't get through two days without having an absurd morning. Oh, of course he could hear the sounds even if he couldn't see what was happening -- the screams and shouts told stories that likely were easier to believe than anything he saw with his own eyes here. He understood fear, paranoia, panic, the way it almost made the air hum as if electrically charged. All it'd take was a little spark for the whole city to go up in flames...

A commotion outside had jolted him awake and after disorientation faded from his mind to be replaced by a sober clarity, he began to think. The half-wit guards, out of some misplaced sense of morality, would certainly come for him rather than let a criminal perish by something other than their own justice and their own rules. If the situation was as bad outside as it sounded, taking advantage of the confusion and breaking away wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility ( ... )

The mole ignored Crane's question and blinked at him with unseeing eyes. Nothing to see, so small... It resorted to sniffing instead, pressing its nose to Crane's chest and shoulders and face (about the same size as its nostril) to identify him. The bird's a man? He smells delicious, it reported thoughtfully. A short thought from its mistress snapped the mole from its thoughts, and it surged forward in a mass of fur and teeth.

It opened its mighty maws to put Crane inside its mouth head first, although that didn't really matter seeing as it was going to swallow him whole. Chomp!

Too much to hope that disgusting -- mole? -- creatures would have any concept of personal space. He recoiled from the offending nose, but of course his back met only wall, no space to withdraw into. Shit. No toxin, no weapon form, no nothing. This had to be just an awful, very vivid dream. Ignoring the traitorous voice of reason telling him that this certainly wasn't any more unlikely than anything else he'd experienced so far. Imminent bodily harm was just a tad harder for his mind to accept.

Then, suddenly he had a front seat view of rows of teeth and what few words he still had left at his disposal scattered. It didn't occur to him to kick, punch, hit the big dumb beast in its glassy eyes, it just wasn't an instinct he'd ever possessed -- he did have enough time to bring his arms up to shield his face and neck. Whatever good that would do.

Shit, shit.
