Hay, I'm on the way out to uni, but I just want to mention quickly I'm planning to grab the el cheapo 4-pack (four copies for the price of less than four copies) deal for both Borderlands AND Left4Dead2, IF I can get enough interested folks from among my peers to make it worthwhile ( Read more... )

Why is it cheaper to get it in a pack of four?
Because I am interested in L4D2, but not if it's from Australia and is censored.

According to all the L4D players on Kotaku, the removed content can all be easily added back in by user-made mods, assuming Valve don't release a patch/DLC for it [unrated]. Still 'supporting' the current system, which I recommend not doing, but if you really want to play it, seems the best way.

If you intend to just import, you're likely going to hit problems with online play. Single player campaign should work fine though.

As for the original post, I"m interested in Borderlands, but will be getting it on PS3/Xbox 360.

Again, there really is no such thing as a proper 'single player campaign' in Left 4 Dead. It's just the multiplayer game.. with vaguely competent bots subbed in. So importing may not be an option. But the mod thing is a good point.
I'll have to hear from Soul how much it would be per person to do this four-pack thing, compared to what it would cost to just buy it off Steam. I still don't know how or why this 4-pack method works. Is that the minimum number of units you can buy straight from a factory or something like that?

Oh, I assumed this was some kind of Steam offer, to get groups buying/upgrading together. If not, then yeah, I sounds like some kind of bulk wholesaler.

So yeah, as you can see from the above thread, I'm in for L4D2. :P
I'm also happy to offer to be the point man on buying, collecting the cash and handling the gifting.

The cost price analysis is that it's a 25% discount, on top of the fact that Steam's pre-order price for Left 4 Dead is a 10% discount from purchases post-launch. So for reference:
US$50 if you buy it later.
US$45 if you pre-order it now on your own
US$34 if you can get three other peeps to pre-order it with you.

So you save like US$16 from the standard price, and US$11 from the preorder price. Bam. PLUS the Australian dollar is currently US$0.91! So you would in effect be paying A$37 for the sequel to a game I myself have poured over SEVENTY HOURS into. I will post this on my journal too. :P

I've only just heard of Borderlands, but I am definitely interested in getting a copy of it.
