I really would love to fight him, someday. I don't like to kill people, though, because you can never fight them again.

You can always find new ones if all you want to do is fight.

I'm more interested about this particular wish-maker. What can you tell me about him?

He's supposed to be the best. So he shouldn't be so easy to replace.

I don't know much, I've never spoken to him.

There's always a best until they get beaten.

Then tell me what little you know.

Because he seems to be the god figure of this place and can't be killed that easily. Also, Shibusen isn't a private fighting force, they're a worldwide peacekeeping organization. Get your facts straight before you start talking about muddying a situation you don't even understand.

[A god, hmm? This is starting to bring the pieces together to form a picture.]

Funny, I don't think I asked anything except why people didn't take the obvious, easy way out. You know, just out of interest.

Anyway, I'm sure that you're just burning to tell me more about this god and how he helps keeping the peace through the power of love and abduction. Am I right?

[speaking slowly, like he's talking to someone daft] This is a war. War can't be won through love and carelessness, and your easy way out is also the most careless way out I've ever heard to date. You can't just think about killing such an important figure without considering the consequences.

Right now the consequences of that important figure of yours that I'm seeing are abduction, imprisonment and negligent homicide of a considerable amount of humans and others, several minors included.

I'm willing to reassess my opinion, but for that I'd need more than just some righteous prattle.

Because killing should never be the answer.

So you'd rather send a few hundred to die in a war than wondering about the possibility of killing a 'god' who might not even be real to begin with. I'm barely here and the people impress me already.

Those are not the only options. This one does not desire war any more than death, but killing him would not end the war and would not solve the problem that is bringing us from our homes. The answer is on another path. I do not claim to know what it is, but it is not killing.

In the meantime, if you do not wish to fight, then do not fight. Lives are still at stake as long as we are here, and some are choosing to fight merely to protect others and prevent as many deaths as possible.

I'm no killer, I'm one of those guys who are paid to find and catch those. I don't want to kill humans. That also means that I won't just step back and bow my head when somebody suddenly declares them self a god and uses that rank to carelessly mess with the lives of others without having to face the repercussions, though.

If there is a solution that prevents prolonged suffering and problems then its my job to want to hear why it hasn't been taken. If others are stupid enough to think that that means that I want to stage a revolution, a bloody war or gods knows what else they come up with in their zeal then let them fantasize, it's not like I give a damn. All I want is answers.

Is there any guarantee whatsoever that killing him would send us back?

[His tone is light, almost conversational. Mocking? Maybe.]

Because if we killed him and it didn't work, we'd still be stuck here, still at war, and a good portion of our protection would be gone.

[There is a pause. When Ryuuji answers his tone has taken on exactly the same quality as Kujaku’s.]

As much as there is to playing along with this foul number getting us home. I’d prefer to try dealing with one person over fighting a war that has been going for who knows how long, but that might just be me.

Protection that gets you into danger in the first place?

You're twisting the facts. It's not his protection that got us into danger.

But by all means, go ahead and deal with him. Do let the rest of us know how it turns out.

[Wow, either this one's a rat or people are really stupid enough to buy this whole 'sad mistake and protection' shit.]

Which changes the fact that it would never have been needed if he hadn't royally 'messed up' in the first place?

Ahhhhh, one down again. Getting rejected so completely, that's harsh enough to bring me to tears. ...Have fun in the opportunist corner and be so nice to keep out of the way of those people who'd like to think for themselves, okay?

Good point. Why don't you try?

voice jerkisjerk August 24 2011, 18:12:21 UTC
Who says that I don't?

[Several points based on simple logic, actually: first, Ryuuji prefers to figure things out before he blindly leaps into action, second, most of his powers seem to have been sealed, third, he doesn't know if this 'god' is really a supernatural being or just a scam yet - he might not have qualms teaching a him/her a lesson or two with Gengen if it's just a ruse but killing humans is a no-go. Fourth, this is mostly just a poke in the wasps nest right now. What he needs is information and few things make people as willing to talk and truthful as getting them angry enough.]

[Remi would have little to agree with Mister Ryuuji on any of those counts save the last bit...]

Ah, I meant "why haven't you tried it? Here?" I'll grant you I haven't been back here long but I've noticed a distinct lack of gratuitous killing...

I'll warn you now, out of good will, that our gracious hosts get touchy over the smallest things. A murder here or there is apt to send them into conniptions.

[Good thing that Ryuuji doesn't ever expect anybody to agree with or like him in that case.]

If I had tried I wouldn't be stupid enough to talk about it in public, now would I? And now that I did I'm already extra-suspicious in their books, I guess, so I can't do it anytime soon again. Whops, I said that out loud, right? My bad, just consider it a slip of tongue between friends.

...Me wanting to kill anybody was a lie between. I have never harmed another human before.
