[He knows how to read and typing is freaking hard. Her persistence is impressive! But he still won't type at her.]

I didn't expect you'd be celebrating All Hallows'; it strikes me as a bit of a devilish celebration. But I will be at mass, of course!

[tap-a-tap typing back. SHE NEEDS TO REMEMBER HER GRAMMAR RULES, IT IS VITAL]

I do not begrudge others their enjoyment, since the holiday seems to have changed from the one I know. But I would much rather prepare for All Souls' Day instead. I will see you at church!

[Why must you be so kind and saintly, Jeanne?]

I still worry that there may be something suspicious beneath it all, but I try not to be too concerned about it. I wonder if anybody else is planning to be at the church.

[because otherwise they wouldn't have canonized her?]

I think that perhaps you are simply worrying too much! Even if I am wrong, we are more than prepared for anything unpleasant. From the response I have gotten here, I believe that it may just be the pair of us...

That would be very kind of you, sir! I need all the practice I can get; it is difficult to remember all the rules.

It is something I had wished to learn for some time. At home I had only begun the very basics, and many things got in the way of continuing. Even if this is a different language, I'm grateful for the opportunity.

[Look he's humouring you.]

It seems Watson's lessons have not been wasted.

[you're a good man, Mr. Holmes]

I sincerely hope they are not, I am so grateful to him for giving his time. I would try to become better even if I had no interest in the subject.

From my perspective at least. They are not.

What books have you read?

Not very many yet, I'm afraid. I am working through the ones Dr. Watson has given me, as well as the Bible.

Have you considered reading books as well?

Yes, I have been doing some reading as well! But the books do not talk back, and I cannot get to know them.

That's very true.

Also, when I have difficult understanding them they cannot clarify. It may be a bother, but I like to speak with people much better.

All Hallows' Eve was the day which spirits could cross over to the world humans. The costumes and noise making was meant to keep them away, but it seems that things have changed.
