[The communicator turns on after Ed fiddles with it a moment, and he stares blinking at his reflection for a moment more. He’s looking fairly beat up still, a bandage wrapped around his head and some cuts on his face fresh from fighting. Once he realizes it’s recording, he screws up his face in a frown.]I know I’m not the only new one here, so I’ll

The pause before she actually speaks is a long one.]
Hello, Edward.

Lieutenant. The Colonel told me you were here too.

Back home, Fullmetal was gone. Alphone still believed he was alive...but...]
It's good to see you. [A beat.] I can't help you with your mechanic, but I don't think Alphonse is here. The Colonel would have said if he'd been waiting for us, and if he arrived in the state you describe, he would have been pretty hard to miss.

[He picks up on how she refers to him too and pauses, wondering if he should even ask, but if it concerns Al, it's important]
State I described... How is that different from normal?

he isn't really sure why he's doing this to himself, but when he clicks on the feed he looks less than impressed.]
What the hell happened to you?

I was in the middle of a fight when I got pulled here... what's it to you?
Reply
Lucky for you.

Lucky to be pulled here? That's a twisted way of looking at it.

If your brother is among the new people here, then you might see him here sooner rather than later. However, please remember that there is always the possibility that he might not be here at all.
[It is a harsh truth, one that he learned himself.]
As for mechanics, I can only think of those that are a part of the Watch... but I am unsure if they would be able to deal with something as sophisticated as your arm seems to be.
[Have a dragon that's looking straight at your automail, Ed. He is quite fascinated with it, actually. It's shinyyyyy.]

W-whoa... Are you some kind of chimera...?
[And while his information is sound, he's going to be a bit distracted by Temeraire's appearance at the moment]

Pardon, but I think you are quite mistaken: a chimera has the body and head of a lion, the head of a goat mid-back, and its tail is that of a snake.
I am a dragon, so if there are none in your world, then I am quite sorry that you have not heard of anything remotely close to what I and my fellow dragons are like. However, I think I could remedy that with an amicable relationship between the two of us, and then you can come to know and understand how dragons can be like.
[He needs to school this young man in what dragons are like: it probably doesn't help that he is a rather atypical dragon at that.]
Reply
Sorry... chimera is my world are basically creatures of mixed origins, like any two animals melded together. I've heard of dragons, yeah, but I've never seen one.
[He's peering carefully at him now, studying him curiously]

[It's not a question.]
We show up alone, but BREW has a tendency to drag in people we know.
Don't need the clinic, do you, kid? [This almost counts as concern, from Mello. He knows Ed's no dummy.]
Reply
Yeah... I don't remember, but I've been told about... all that.
[As for the clinic, he shakes his head, frowning more] I'm fine, and don't call me that.
Reply
[Anyone younger is 'kid,' but he can deal with requests to the contrary, especially from someone who made a decent impression in another version.]
I was here before, and I don't remember either. Sucks, doesn't it?
Reply
[He pauses, thinking if Mello had the same thing happen to him, maybe he can talk more freely]
It's weird to have people remember you, is all. I can't help wondering what I did... or what some other version of me did.

It was pretty inconvenient timing, yeah. But any time probably would have been inconvenient.
