[The feed turns on to a room that is a little foggy. Mostly smoke but Holmes isn't one to open the window when there is snow outside. He is, however, hazing out the window at the snow. Watching the people a bit before he turns his attention to the camera. Obviously this wasn't an accident.]I suppose it is customary to wish others a Happy ( Read more... )

[Watson sees the post as he's coming home, having seen to the clinic for the evening before retiring for the holidays. He's a good man that way. Watson's initial thought is that no -- their enemies don't deserve mercy after the way he and his comrades in tragedy have been treated -- but Watson is an inherently good man. If the Witches can find it in themselves to let this day pass peacefully, Watson would extend his gratitude to them.]

[He enters the room with some noise, thumping the snow and mud off his shoes as he gets in, making a face at the smoke but not looking too put out by it.] Holmes, my dear old friend, do open the windows. This is absolutely poisonous.

[Even a little noise would have alerted Holmes. He simply glances over his shoulder at Watson. The detective had moved to one of the windows and was watching the snow.

Considering the day he obliged his companion and cracked open the window. He enjoyed the crisp wind that blew in for a few moments.]

I was in need of occupation. Snow is aesthetically appealing, but it seems even criminals do not enjoy cold feet.

And that's fortunate, of course. [amused, that's what Watson is. He moves further into the room as the smoke clears, removing his coat and shrugging the snow off it, before hanging it up next to the door. The heater, he adjusts to something more humanely warm and can counter the window draft for now.]

Have you been here all day? It's lovely outside, if a tad cold.

I would argue that. Cold feet may lead to more patients for a doctor.

[Of course that would keep Watson busy, but safer. And also closer to what Holmes was investigating at the moment.]

I find little use in being out today.

[He's sitting on the open windowsill now.]

I don't find this Christmas to be particularly happy, but it's my first one.

Sounds a bit hypocritical, isn't it?

Not at all. Christmas is only a day made special by those who wish it to be.

It is simply another day should a person decide.

Ah, I see. I know that it has something to do with religion, but I couldn't really understand what that had to do whit sweets and presents. However, it's nice to see people happy.

What it is for you?

Most people equate getting material goods with spreading happiness. Though it seems to have become more predominate in modern times.

Simply another day with a bit more food come supper.

Good will is never a bad thing to have around. If nothing else, being nice to your enemy will probably drive him crazy!

Make them mad with kindness.

A curious strategy to be sure.

Several things considered, I doubt I would be.

It might depend on the enemy. They're not all the same, you know.

Neither are our allies. It also depends upon them.

A kind man may turn a blind eye to past aggressions even if reason states otherwise.

The kindest people in the world aren't much for reason, or at least that's what I've found.

Are you sending well-wishes to the enemy?

This is sadly very true.

[He gave a small sniff.]

No.

I think it's safe to say that we're not expected to extend the sentiment towards that faction.

There are many things people are not expected to do that come about.

[blink] Are you implying that there are some of us who might try to share feelings of goodwill with our enemies?

Is that not the meaning of the season? To put away differences and enjoy peace and tranquility amongst all one's peers?

Or are our enemies so different from those that have been brought here?
