[There's a brief silence as L considers the implications of both of those. Transportation in Death City isn't too much of a problem, since quite a lot is well within walking distance, but he's curious about why she wouldn't be able to be "firm without being overbearing."]

Could you explain a bit more about the third condition? What does being mortal have to do with it?

[A flash of white in L's peripheral vision gets his attention. It looks like someone familiar is peering at one of his posters. Not that this person is of any use to him, as a fellow Weapon. This annoyed L chiefly because, aside from L's desire for someone who could be firm with him on matters like eating and bedtime, Bakura was pretty damn perfect for the job.

He approachedes the boy, recognizing him, immediately fitting the face to the name he'd readily presented over the networks while blithely neglecting to ask for L's own. His steps are surprisingly quiet, considering the sorry shape his shoes are in.]

I don't suppose you've found someone yet. Have you?

[L noticed the girl peering at his poster and commenting on it aloud, but he tries not to make the fact that she'd caught his attention too obvious. After all, he looks suspicious and odd enough; he had been too close when she'd approached. He'd be amazed if she didn't link the posters to him.]

[L is a very intelligent man. He's probably in the top three in the world, where he comes from. However, there are many different kinds of intelligence, and he pays dearly for his brilliance with other, glaring shortcomings. Social graces aren't just something he's bad it, it's like they don't even occur to him. It's why, while most men would have politely declined a young lady's jacket and reassured her that their own lack of foresight had put them in this situation, he quickly responds with]
