THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES
even if they weren't so great. Some theoretical five years into the future, BREW's wish has been granted. Your character has evolved into what you'd planned for them, they've made the CR you've wanted them to make, and now, the war is over. To express their gratitude, Shibusen has one last surprise for their guests: the ( Read more... )

[Spirit knows these people have to leave, and he's grateful to everyone. But it's sad, anyway, seeing comrades go.]

Don't-- Don't forget us! [Even though he knows they probably will. That's just what the BREW does.]

[Calls you horrible things.]

But it's so sad, Miles.

[Katsura approaches Spirit somewhat warily; even if they've been official friends for over four years now there are some things that Katsura will never get used to, like getting glomped, getting hugged which is the same thing and getting slobbered on.]

Spirit-dono...[He doesn't know what to feel. Katsura really wishes to keep his memories but he's known for some time now that it's simply not possible. What is it, really, that he can say other than 'goodbye'?]

[Oh, god. This is going to be one of the hardest things Spirit will have to do. He's never been very good at letting go. He won't drape all over Katsura now because this really... really hurts, and he knows Katsura would never stay, shouldn't stay, but how do you say good bye to a close friend forever?]

I-- Katsura.

[sniffle]

[sniffle sniffle]

You don't need to do that, you know. [Katsura offers a small but warm smile, the kind he shows only to the people he really cares for.] You should say what you truly feel now since you don't need to lead us any more.

You're just my friend now.

[There's something on his expression that breaks, and Spirit is weeping again. He's so good at crying. The redhead walks forward, puts his hands on Katsura's shoulders, but he doesn't go in for a hug -- instead, he lowers his head so it seems more like he's shouting at the ground, but now he's talking.]

We've always been friends...! And we always will be! I'm glad... I'm glad I met you, and that we became friends, and I'll miss you a lot, but, but... [HUGE SNIFFLE.]

Thank you for everything.

[Katsura laughs in spite of himself before drawing Spirit in for the quickest of hugs- a light pat on the back and then it's like nothing happened.]

I'm glad to have met you too, Spirit-dono. Before meeting you, I had always thought that being a leader meant having to sacrifice everything for the cause. But now, I can see that that's not true, that the very people I want to protect can also protect me in return.

...Actually, I have something that I would like to give to you.

[That surprises him a little, but it does please him enough to get him to smile, rubbing his red-rimmed eyes dry. Learned from Spirit's mistakes, ey?]

What's that?

Just a moment. [Katsura draws out his sword then and if Spirit's observant, he'll note that the Meister has a plain blue ribbon tied around his right hand. He uses his sword to cut off a single lock of his hair, tying it up neatly before handing it to Spirit quietly.]

[This confuses him for a moment, but then he also notices the ribbon.]

Are you... trying to remind yourself? [But he clutches at the lock of hair like a lifeline.]

Perhaps I am. I've thought about this a long time, and I feel that if I gave something of mine away willingly, it should not be returned home with me. That way, I'll always remember that I've lost something but that I've also gained something in return.

...I saw this in a video game before. I don't know if it truly works, but I can ensure that no one will ask about my haircut. My followers are used to my revolutionary ideas, after all.

Oh, since it wouldn't be your possession anymore, right... [blink, that actually... made sense?] Now how do you carve a note on your hair with a haircut...

[Wait, he is distracted. He looks up again from the lock of hair, and smiles bravely.] I hope it works. But, for what it matters, I'll definitely never forget you!

I'm not going to do that! [Katsura calms down and takes a deep breath before continuing.]

And I know you'd never forget, Spirit-dono. It's just...I have a request to make of you.
