[Looks like they're breaking out the Christmas decorations around here~]

[Mello's sour mood of earlier has persisted. He's not ready to let go of it yet, and the Christmas decorations going up are just another excuse to scowl. He's sticking with the Watch for now, though, because he thinks it may still come in useful. Besides, it's something to do.

He's never in his life been at loose ends like this. Maybe that's why the two kids catch his eye. Not unlike himself at that age, though he'd like to believe he was a lot better at stealth; their manner screams up to something, with the way they're whispering and casting furtive glances around.

Figuring out what it is they're up to sounds a hell of a lot better than wandering aimlessly. He starts to tail them, keeping a reasonable distance.]

[While she was grateful for being given the shift she had, Fabiola was used to working far more for far less- so the first couple of hours after her shift usually found her wandering as inconspicuously as possible through districts where the people who had just replaced her wouldn't be likely to see. Which was why when she saw the two, and then spotted the man following them, she was able to sneak up alongside him as well, and as quietly as she could, asked-]

Might I ask why you are following these two, sir?

[Company. Great. Mello sizes the girl up at a glance. Young, but he hadn't heard her coming until she was right close by, which is moderately impressive.]

Because it's my shift on the Watch, [he says, quietly,] and they're up to no good.

Why do you give a damn?

Because while my shift is over... [She pauses to peer around him at his apparent targets.] I still feel it prudent to investigate such... unusual behavior. On the part of all parties involved.

[That last bit is said with a pointed look at Mello, because she's pretty sure if he's on shift, he's supposed to have someone with him. Not like she's really got much room to talk, but she's not on shift, is she?]

[Mello is either immune to said look, or is pretending he is for all he's worth. The most he expects out of shift mates is that they leave him alone to work in the way that suits him best, and he extends them the same courtesy, if it can be called that.

He sure as fuck doesn't need a silent lecture from a little girl about how to do his job, and he's formulating a suitably scathing comment to this effect when the kids they're following peel off down an alley.

Mello instantly forgets sarcasm (thank god, something's happening), and holds up a finger to tell the girl to slow up, as he's done.]

Here we go.

[She's used to Revy Mello- she can do this all night if she has to-

Except there's no time when their targets are moving and so are they, and she looks up at him briefly before skirting around him and taking off after them. That was too sudden and too quick a departure and she wants to make sure they don't get too far away if they really were up to something.]

[Mello's only a second behind her, easily in time to spot the punks pulling up short across the street from a cash machine, which he'd notice even if the kiosk weren't lit, because they make it pretty obvious that's their goal by scoping out the sidewalk around it.]

Subtle they're not, [he murmurs to the patrol partner he's apparently come down with for now, and shifts his jacket out of the way of the gun at his hip.

Then one of the punks transforms, into a crowbar, and the other only just catches him before he clatters to the pavement. Mello gives a quiet huff of amusement.]

No, definitely not.

[Her own guns are hidden up the sleeves of her shirt, but she sees no reason to use them, and so she slides her eyes to his and then up to his face meaningfully.]

If you would be so kind as to cover me, I can try to avert this without any... unnecessary violence?

[She bounces on the balls of her feet a little, anxiously watching as the one boy gives another surreptitious look around before finally raising his partner in crime above his head to slam into the machine.]

Just being prepared, Jesus.

[Mello assumes his definition of 'necessary violence' covers significantly more situations than hers, and it does for a reason: experience. He doesn't need a silent lecture from a little girl.]

I've got another idea. You cover me. I'm slightly more intimidating.

[He knows they don't have time for a debate, and he's counting on her to know it, too.]

[She sighs- but knows time is imperative, so she nods and flicks one of her wrists slightly, her own gun sliding into her palm. She motions forward as she locks and loads, keeping the safety up even as she raises it.]

As you wish.

He'll run.

[They always do.]

You handle him.

[Mello doesn't draw, but his trigger finger's itchy as he strides over.]

Oi, morons.

[Sure enough, the one still human panics, drops the crowbar in his haste to save his own ass, and bolts. Mello sets a booted foot on the other. He knows what resonance gone wrong feels like, and he's not risking it.] Might as well give it up, kid.

Of course.

[She watches him go, gun held at the ready until the one that's still in his human form runs. He moves past Mello, either thinking him alone or not thinking he might have backup at all- she couldn't ask for an easier target. She darts out of her hiding place as he nears, and he spots her just a split-second too late. He tries to stop, to try and reroute his momentum back the way he came, but it's already too late. She has a foot on one of his knees and is using it to push herself upward, the knee of her other leg slamming into the underside of his chin. She hooks her other leg over his shoulder and rides the falling body to the ground, knee on his sternum even as the other one traps his shoulder uncomfortably away from the ground.]

It would be in your best interests not to resist. [She speaks calmly, but she cocks the gun even as she says it for good measure- with people like this, they will think her unwillingness to kill him a weakness. She has to assure him that it is no such thing, even as she raises her eyes to ( ... )

[Mello gives her an approving nod, which is more than most people would get, for knowing instinctively exactly how much of a show of force, or willingness to employ it, to make. And all right, that move was pretty brilliant, too. Note to self: don't piss this one off.

He kicks the crowbar over, and the kid seems to know it's a lost cause, and changes back, doesn't put up a fight when Mello snags the collar of his shirt.]

Don't 'sir' me.

As you wish.

[She looks between the boy he's got and the one she has, and arches her eyebrows.]

Will we be taking them in then?

What else are we going to do with them?

[One corner of his mouth might tug up in something like a smile. He's reasonably certain the kids will be back on the streets within days, if not hours, but they might at least think twice about crossing the Watch in future.

He starts to herd the one he's got towards Shibusen, and the jail.]
