She had never had the best good sense when it came to impending disaster. Common sense would say she should run away from an attack; instead, she was running towards it, intent on making a stand by the perimeter. After all, a knight should always be the first line of defense for everyone else. Her place wasn't back at the center being protected. Whether or not she found a Weapon on the way, she'd just have to fight to the best of her ability.

It wasn't long before she found someone just as reckless as she was, a Weapon who had run out by himself in a misguided attempt to protect people. Of course, whether she knows this is up in the air, since the person in question is actually a somewhat chubby golden retriever.

He'd found a kinshin egg all right, but it had taken the form of a manically grinning humanoid, and he was having trouble bringing himself to attack it. All instinct told Dug that it was extremely dangerous and not even human, but he'd never been a fighter.

So he lowers his head growls, holding his ground. Hopefully he could scare it off.

"Stop, you kinshin egg, you! I do not want to have to hurt you!"

The kinshin egg, for its part, didn't seem particularly impressed. Or any less likely to rip Dug open and eat his soul.

Sora might have learned a lesson or two lately about judging by outside appearances, but even so, she wasn't looking for a Weapon shaped like a dog. She skidded to a halt just the same when she saw the animal and the kishin egg it seemed to have cornered. No way could she just run past and leave a dog to fight something like that by itself--

--a talking dog? Well, little details like that probably weren't too important. What mattered was that it--he?--was standing off against the kishin egg that was definitely her opponent right now.

"Hey! Look out!"

Making the most strategic move possible, the all-out charge, she darted forward to impose herself between the dog and the monster.

Dug lifted his ears and tilted his head, surprised and confused by the sudden intervention. This wasn't right! It was a dog's duty to protect his human friends, not the other way around. He raised up out of his crouch and ran to Sora, closing his mouth gently around one of her hands. He wasn't holding on nearly hard enough to break skin, but he had a firm hold and he was trying to pull her away.

"Oh no! Do not do that! It will hurt you!"

The last time something crazy happened, Lili ran out of her apartment, having no idea what to expect, but looking forward to it nonetheless. She sought out a fight, weaponless in her lack of forethought, or perhaps her stubbornness. She got her fight, lost it, and earned herself some hospital time, to boot. Most people would have learned from that.

Lili wasn't like most people, though. As soon as the attack began, she ran out of her apartment the same way as before, hungry for a fight and without a backup plan.

He'd heard Stein announcement, and had been standing on his balcony since. Watching the outer walls for anything that may come over. He knew he couldn't do much, not without a full partner but...at least, at least he could keep others safe.

Once the first Kishin came over the wall, Ash was off and out of the complex. Rushing out to help anyone that needed it, in any manner. Then he saw a familiar blond head, running in almost the same direction.

"Lili?...LILI!" He waved, trying to catch her attention.

He would have to be delusional to think that Lili needed help, in reality, she was having the time of her life. Watching everything turn to chaos wherever she went was like a breath of fresh air, a taste of home, she couldn't have asked for a more pleasant turn of events. She raised her hands into the air, spinning, nearly dancing with glee.

At the sound of her name, she turned, facing him with a smile on her face. She definitely remembered him, the boy with the perfect weapon form!

"Ash!" She waved back, her eyes wandering back to the wall as the Kishin poured in. "How are you? Isn't this exciting?"

Ash stared, he couldn't help it with how enthusiastic she seemed about the whole thing. Seeing someone literally dancing with joy to see these things, it wasn't what he was expecting. Not after everything else... Another head shake to clear his thoughts before running closer.

"Exciting? Uh...okay it is is exciting but why are you so happy?" He tensed though, keeping his eye on the Kishin around them. He wasn't naive enough to think she needed help, not after all the girls he'd met, but he was still going to stick by her.

[he's covered in Kishin egg blood mingled with his own - Stein was fast, but he wasn't superhumanly fast, and he has a few scrapes here and there. the bottom of his lab coat is a little tattered, too, but he doesn't seem particularly bothered by this, or by the wounds scabbing slowly on his face, arms and chest. Damnit, Stein, be careful! is a frustrated refrain he gets pestered with from his partner here and there, but he ignores it. he's still breathing, right? it doesn't concern him.]

I am being careful, senpai, [he sighs, and he feels the frustrated glance at him, which makes him smile just a little.

swinging Spirit around him like a windmill, he slides into the street, inserts the dark, somehow only minimally gore-covered blade into a Kishin egg's head, pulling it out with a grotesque squelching noise. swinging Spirit around and behind him, he sensed a soul to the right- his head snaps over but he already knows it's not a threat. he eyes Cross, raising an eyebrow.]

Do you not have a partner?

Oh, it's that guy who wanted to smoke in the dungeons. [I had to bribe him with drink so he wouldn't, he adds. But Stein is free to converse with Cross all he wants, Spirit is going to focus on their surroundings and using Stein's perceptiveness to see if he can also pick anything up. So many kishin eggs... Spirit needs a bath after this.]

[CLOSED] Date + Lady (and later a dying Dante) [(EVENTUALLY) OUTER RESIDENTIAL QUARTER III - 1 AM]

[This is Date, now finally coming to the outer perimeters of Death City after having scoured through the inner districts of Shibusen. A final run through there had shown that his partner was nowhere to be found at all, and now all that was left was to go through the outer districts.

The warlord curses to himself as he scurries on, looking around as he runs in order to try and find out where his partner was. He was already away from his zone long enough, he needed to return to it... but before that he was going to run around the other outer areas one more time before returning. And perhaps when he did, Dante would be there as well.]

[Lady's patrol shift had turned into something far more dangerous tonight. Her entire evening has been spent with a gun in one hand, and her other arm sporting a serrated blade along her forearm. There's blood splattering her clothes, though the majority of it isn't hers. She's gotten away with just a scratch or two so far, but that's been mostly from luck and running.]

Shit.

[This is only getting worse as time passes, and she hasn't stayed alive this long without knowing when to run. She's about to do just that, fall back to the city's inner streets, when she spots the man running toward her. She recognizes him; he's a Zone Leader, and Dante's partner.]

Hey! [She shouts as he moves closer, and she begins to move to meet him halfway.] Where's Dante? Shouldn't he be with you?

[Worried? Nah.]

[Date looks over when he hears that voice, and it takes another moment after that to place that face to a name - Lady, although she wasn't supposed to be here. Then again, everything about this current situation wasn't really going well in the first place.]

I'm currently trying to find him. [Said while still running, now step by step with Lady. His voice is terse and rushed, but one can't really blame him.] Have you seen him?

[Hey, she's not that far from her district, but these outer edges of the city were beginning to become to much for her, so she'd been on the move since recently. It was becoming painfully apparent that without a partner, she couldn't do as much as she'd like.]

If I had, I wouldn't be asking you about him. I'd be telling you instead.

[A little snappy, maybe, but can you blame her?]

How the hell did you lose him? [He's pretty hard to miss. She's running side by side with him now.]

[CLOSED] Junpei + Chidori [CASUALTY COMMUNAL] [12:12 AM]

[It really, really wasn't his fault that Junpei had ended up sleeping through the earlier bit of everything - it had been a hectic day, and he had all but knocked out after his head hit the pillow when he returned in the evening. It was only minutes ago that he was awake, and now after having managed to get the gist of the situation from the network posts he'd scrolled through the boy was rushing down to the unit where Chidori was in. At least they were in the same building, which made things easier.

He doesn't bother knocking this time, instead all but barging into the apartment as he looks around frantically.] Chidori--Chidori! Are you in here?!

[Chidori is standing at the window, gazing out into the city, where creatures of all shapes and sizes are ripping through the streets, hungry and looking for their next meal. Her stomach is a coil of anxiety, and her whole body tenses nearly violently as her door bursts open. She glances over her shoulder, and despises the relief that floods her at the sound of his voice.]

Where else would I be, Junpei?

[She fully turns her body toward him, taking a few steps. The calm she exhibits is practiced; internally, her emotions are a mess, and she's scared.]

I thought you might come here.

[itsnotstupei]

[If he looked at the mirror right now Junpei would see how disheveled he was, lacking his usual cap and looking quite rushed. But that all really isn't important as so much as the situation itself. Without missing a beat he immediately goes to Chidori and grabs her hand without thinking twice.]

We've--we've gotta get to Shibusen, the rest of SEES are there. This place isn't going to be safe soon enough.

[Junpei is a mess. Had he just gotten out of bed?

...Oh. Color rises into her cheeks at his sudden actions. He walks up to her incredibly quickly, he hand clasping onto hers without a second thought. She barely even has any time to react before he's speaking quickly to her, and she does nothing for a moment but blink in response.]

If you insist.

[No place would be truly safe, she thought, but it didn't really matter to her. If Junpei is going out into that mess, she has no choice but to go with him. Someone had to make sure he didn't get himself killed.]
