My car sits low so it actually didn't do any body damage; I had to pay for a new windshield, though. Looking back I can laugh, but right then? I cried so hard for that poor thing. I'd never seen one in person until it was laying on my car. :|
I have roads like this. I grew up in the country so long trips were a part of everyday life... and now when I go back there, they bring back memories, just as you've described.
Yeah... that was a bad, bad day. Came around a curve and there was this huge ass furball in the road. I didn't really have time to swerve (I'm glad I didn't: if I had I would've ended up in the ditch, and done even more damage to my car.) I took out its legs with the front of my car (I hate saying it like that!) and the body hit my windshield. But I walked away perfectly fine, and I only had to replace the windshield. The car was pretty much fine.
...A week later I got t-boned. Not so lucky. But oh well, what can I do?
What did you do with the llama??! You left it?!? I mean obviously not completely as you knew where it came from... but still... Llamas aren't like deer or something like that. deer are like... rats. (I've heard this seriously about deer, that sometimes hunters kill deer not for sport, but it's actually like something needed to be done because they're like rabbits, and cause more problems than solutions)
In our area the DNR (Department of Natural Resource) will actually extend deer season for that reason. I've been known to take advantage of that. :) I actually had to call the cops, because a llama is a farm animal, and if you hit a farm animal (say, a cow), you have to report it. It's a lost profit for the farm. So the cops came, animal control took away the llama, and the farmer was super pissed. LIKE IT WAS MY FAULT HIS FENCE WASN'T ELECTRIC.

I bet it was scary to hit a llama! Did it wreck your car?
