Don woke up slowly, still sleepy and comfortable underneath the thick covers. He shifted, glanced to the side, and saw Liz watching him. He let a lazy grin appear on his face and she smiled in return.
"Hey." He pulled her close for a soft kiss and closed his eyes again, settling into his pillow. "Happy birthday," he murmured.
She hummed contentedly into his chest and turned in his arms to face the window. "It's snowing out."
He moved a hand down to rest against her thigh. "I guess we'll have to stay inside, then."
She laughed. "I guess so."
