The mugura experiment was very much a success. Thank you again, Mistral and Kyouya. The three of us hiked south of the town, towards the nearest peek in the southern mountain range. I've included a map to demonstrate the width of the area I was able to observe while my conscious was fused with the mugura network in the ground. Pretty large area, I'Read more... )

Marked down a full grade every half a day it's late.

*sighs through his nose, leering up at Hibari from under his eyebrow* ...Look, everyone was affected by the Oktoberfest the same.

*pauses to consider for a moment* I'd love to help you with it, but there isn't anyone to grade these but me. Might want to ask Tsuna or someone if you're having trouble finding enough sources.

There's a desert on this island?

Geez... That's kind of a morbid tale.

Mm. I assume that the magic of the island can be thanked for this unbelievable ecosystem. I've never seen a desert before in my life, before the mugura riding.

Many of the things I've remembered have been. I interacted with people on the worst days in their lives...

Well, that's what happens when you're dealing with people's problems, isn't it?

Thus the morbidity.

*will be trying to avoid mention of the story*

Oh, so you saw it with your own eyes this time, huh?

*genuine grin* ...Technically, I didn't, not with my own. Still, I can remember it as clearly as if I had.

Hm? What do you mean by that?

The purpose of the experiment was to try out the mugura riding technique I mentioned a ways back. I was able to see anywhere that the network of mugura extended, my conscious flying through it faster than the speed of light.

The mugura are something like the blood veins of the mountain.

What a sad story...

Sorry, it doesn't make for the best conversation starter, does it.

Perhaps, take it as a reminder to cherish the time we all have with each other.

Mm, but it's true. It's important to make the most of the time you have, 'cause before you know it, it may be too late!

Thanks for helping out on the hike, Mistral. I'm glad you were there, because there wasn't a soul anywhere else in the entire area; I badly wanted to make sure I could recognize a human in all the rushing images flying through my head during the experience.

. . . It reads like a fairy tale. Perverted beyond imagination.

It was a rare case; I'd heard of the Nisekazura, the mushi in question, before. I hadn't ever heard of them taking over a human, however.

Stories like these happen when mushi and human cross paths...

I believe I'd asked you about these 'mushi' in the past . . . But would you mind explaining it again? I seem to be getting forgetful in my old age.

Mushi are supernatural beings that float in the air, swim in the sea, and crawl in the shadows. Only a handful of humans can see them, but any and all can be potentially affected by their presence. It's best to leave them alone, and they'll leave us alone.

Luckily, there seems to be a magical barrier surrounding the town; I've only ever spotted them out in the wilderness.
