AO3 is a wonderful thing, to be sure. :)

And I think you are probably wise to have avoided modern-day social media. I am completely enmeshed and I don't think I can extricate myself now. Sometimes I want to and sometimes I don't. Remember when 'social media' was this? And before that, when it was message boards and mailing lists! And nobody knew we existed.

AO3 is fabulous, people don't know just how good it is. That kind of huge system with millions of pages is non-trivial to make and maintain, has to be done with love.

The idea of an Archive Of Our Own without ads or paywall was pioneered by a few fans (who got a carload of shit about it), and that's what we have!. Good thing is that when they put up the donations request banner, they always make their very reasonable goals quickly.
