Wordy confusion

I posted something on Freecycle this morning - not uncommon now that we're slowly packing up the house (despite lack of frickin' move date..) - but my wording seems to have caused confusion ( Read more... )

I think it's the slash which is causing the problem here. 'cotbed matrass' is a simple compound, but cot/ doesn't seem to be part of it, so it's assumed the slash stands for 'and'. Maybe?

I think you're right - larger cots that turn into toddler beds are often advertised as "cot/cotbed" (at least in this area), so I just copied it.. which is probably my downfall.

I've made a correction post to the list anyway :)

On my ebay auctions I state three times No Paypal and I ALWAYS get people emailing me at the end of the auction "I'll pay you by Paypal, okay?" Err, try all you like.

I hear you about Freecycle. I've been posting alot and I either get, "Can you hold it for x weeks?", or they don't show up, or they ask me to deliver. That's why I've learned to wait and sift through the responses. Usually ignore when they ask those types of questions. heh.

We get that too. Rob hung onto a box for ages before re-posting it to the list, then got a rude email from the original guy who was going to pick it up, but never shifted his lazy bum off the computer seat! The stuff is free, for goodness' sake - I usually aim for pick-up within a couple of days, because I'm just grateful for not having to pay.

As is right and proper!

I'd say they can't read, but the wise person makes sure they're extra-explicit in the first place.
