I spent the holidays with B's family with much laughter, good food, and TONS of presents. I don't remember the last time there were that many presents under the tree. However, there were many of us and we had at least one present per person, so of course it added up ( Read more... )

Walter Wangerin wrote THE BOOK OF THE DUN COW.

Nancy Springer is amazing. I really admire her feminist fairy tale retakes: PLUMAGE, FAIR PERIL, and LARQUE ON THE WING.

She's also amazing at taking these bleak backgrounds, especially in these Pennsylvania former steel towns where life and industry has passed them by, that feeling of claustrophobia of never being able to escape one's roots, and being able to find HOPE therein. (Books like TOUGHING IT.)

She wrote an Arthurian short story for my anthology CAMELOT FANTASTIC, currently out of print although it may be reprinted next fall...
