The holidays were wonderful . . .

Dec 28, 2003 00:25

I spent the holidays with B's family with much laughter, good food, and TONS of presents. I don't remember the last time there were that many presents under the tree. However, there were many of us and we had at least one present per person, so of course it added up.

It wasn't quite as white as I'd have liked. But that made for safe travel for everyone.

I got no writing done, however I did finish Nancy Springer's I am Morgan Le Fay which is an excellent book. I was astonished though how my recent re-reading of Marion Zimmer Bradley's Mists of Avalon had fully influenced my perception of anything Arthurian. That along with A's paper about Celtic girl-power as well as my own presentation on Gods/mythology vs. ancient societies.
I'm looking forward to reading Springer's I am Mordred now as well, also highly recommended by A.

I still have yet to finish Tamora Pierce's Circle of Magic quartett, Briar's Book keeps evading me. Structurally it's similar to what I would like to accomplish, but also the manner of instruction has inspired me some.

I will use my remaining spare time - in a schedule - to write, arrange my office and read and write for the reviews.

Right now however, I will blog around LJ for a bit, then read the pre-release of The Tale of the Swamp Rat by Carter Crocker. It's a book I received from my mentor at 1on1. It looks like a delightful mixture of A.A.Milne, Kenneth Grahame and whoever it was who wrote The Book of the Dun Cow.

Anyway, good night, till next time.

I hope your holidays were wonderful.
