You know, what this city needs is order. As the City's citizens, we ought to form some sort of governing body that can establish laws, better connect the various independent operations within the City, and create programs to properly care for minors and the needy. At the moment, we're largely ruled by the deities' whims; I suspect that, with an ( Read more... )

Shouldn't the efforts be focused about finding means to depart this goddamned place for good?

Yes, of course. That, naturally, would be a duty relegated to the group of citizens best suited to it. In the meantime, we may as well make our stay here more tolerable.

What is intolerable precisely aside of the lack of good quarters lest built? And a vast majority of the population.

Personally, I find the frequent murders and kidnappings rather unpleasant.

Hey, that's where I work!

Actually, I like the fact that this place is in a state of near anarchy. It's interesting to watch the way things manage to function in the absence of an actual government. On the other hand, it would be nice to have a system of law and judgment that didn't rely on the deities.

[ooc: I think Dr. Horrible is the only PC working there (in the first level down) I've never assumed anything not in the description except that he does some kind of work and in return gets paid and gets to use some of the resources for his own projects. If you ever want to plot something laboratory-related some time that would be cool.]

Is it? I didn't see anyone, but I'm afraid I could only get to the fifth floor. There seems to be something wrong with the elevator.

The unfortunate thing about anarchy is that it seems to breed violence. I think we would be more effective--as a population, of course--if we were organized.

Really? Because I can only get to the uppermost basement.

I'm not particularly optimistic of our chances of getting organized. It's not even just the fact that everyone's from different world's it's that people show up and leave all the time and occasionally turn into ducks. That kind of thing works to undermine stability.

[ooc: if they tried to take the elevator together I think they would get stuck around the second floor XD]

That's peculiar! I wonder if it might be fixed...

Intelligent ducks are perfectly capable of conducting themselves appropriately. I see your point, though; the only way to avoid that would be to include nearly everyone, which would entirely defeat the point of having a governing body.

[ooc: XD Or between floors. Trapped on the elevator. Forever.]

Forming a government and deliberating on laws would only lengthen the suffering of the citizens.

Now why do you say that?

While talks and preparations are on-going, people suffer. While waiting for the government to form, people continue to be in anguish.

Yes, well... I don't see anyone doing anything to improve the state of things right now, do you? If you're after action, there's no use talking to a thinker.

That would be the duty for the Warden.

The Warden hardly counts as a governing body.

There is an available laboratory?

somekindofsin January 30 2009, 21:29:08 UTC
It seems so, yes! It doesn't look at all like a laboratory on the outside, but the inside is astounding! There's something a bit off with the elevator, though.

May I enquire as to its location? My clinic hardly affords the space or apparatus necessary for some of the more delicate parts of my research.

Ah, of course! It's in the northeast section of the city, directly between Buildings One and Two.
