I need to find some sort of employment or I'm going to go absolutely insane--provided, of course, that I haven't gone insane already.  The insane tend to be the very last to know about their unfortunate state of mind, from what I've read (although the City forces me to question my sanity far more often than I would like, and, thus far, I haven't ( Read more... )

I'm glad you spoke up. You happen to know anything on astral energy?

Well... I know that where I'm from the astral plane and the various energies related to it are considered either fictional or as-of-yet unexplored hyperplanes of spirit-matter.

It's rather real. Astral energy is something that demons in our world need to live. Usually they would get it through their horns or with a contract with a human but there are other uses for it.

Oh? I'm sure I've never heard of astral energy in that context, but I'm more than willing to learn everything there is to know about it!

Ah- You're.. Carl-san, correct?

If you enjoy fixing things, perhaps you could look into a repair shop for mechanics?

I suppose I am, yes! Have we met? I've apparently been here before.

Is there such a shop?

A while back but if you do not remember, that is quite alright. We did not speak much.

I'm not sure. Worse comes to worse, you could start your own business.

No, I'm afraid I've come down with an unusual case of amnesia. If we weren't well-acquainted, though, I don't suppose reintroductions would be remiss? I'm Carl.

Ah. Ha. I would need a partner, I think. I might be a genius, but management skills have always eluded me.

The human world doesn't advance without interruption. You have to take setbacks into account.

Interruptions and setbacks should only encourage further inventiveness! Human minds are never so ingenious as when death and destruction are lurking around the corner.

They also have a tendency to shut down under those circumstances, or to turn their ingenuity towards the simplest matters of survival, like remembering how to make fire without matches.

That's a rather pessimistic view of humanity, you know.

Excuse me for butting in, but I recall a young female mechanic by the name of Winry Rockbell was talking about reopening her shop.

Although I'm not sure of the details I believe she specialises in the creation and repair of replacement metal limbs for amputees. For some people custom-made limbs can be quite esoteric - I personally know a man with a machine gun attached to his wrist - so it may give you an outlet for your creativity.

Oh, butt in all you like! Thank you, and I'll make a point of talking to Miss Rockbell immediately.

A machine gun? That's... certainly a unique attachment! I suppose it's rather convenient, though, having a weapon at hand at all times...

What would you do if they did not miss you, little friar?

somekindofsin December 31 2008, 16:00:29 UTC
There's no way they could fail to miss me! The Order would still be flailing away at supernatural threats with wooden stakes and holy water if it weren't for me.

Do you miss them?

I might.

I don't see how it's any business of yours, however.
