I need to find some sort of employment or I'm going to go absolutely insane--provided, of course, that I haven't gone insane already.  The insane tend to be the very last to know about their unfortunate state of mind, from what I've read (although the City forces me to question my sanity far more often than I would like, and, thus far, I haven't ( Read more... )

Interruptions and setbacks should only encourage further inventiveness! Human minds are never so ingenious as when death and destruction are lurking around the corner.

They also have a tendency to shut down under those circumstances, or to turn their ingenuity towards the simplest matters of survival, like remembering how to make fire without matches.
