you could write a novel....

So I've been thinking (as one does), about how I have a Thing for men in wire-rimmed glasses, and then I thought, God, John Sheppard would be totally hot in glasses, which I think we all can agree is a Great Truth. But self, I thought, if Sheppard had glasses, then the Air Force wouldn't let him fly! And that would be tragic and sad! (Which is, ( Read more... )

Okay, you have just convinced me that John *could* write poetry. Like this, yes, this is the way he'd do it.

Also?

I agree that Sheppard in glasses would be beautiful, and the emo tragedy that would be Sheppard in glasses is what impelled me to click the link, expecting crack.

This is not crack, though, and very much with the beautiful, and poetry besides.

I... may have another version of this AU, only with seriously bad emo poetry, complete with Open Mike Night performances at hipster coffeehouses. I'm not sure if I can bring myself to post it, though, because it is, one might say, the crackiest self-indulgent crack ever written.

I think the "not on purpose" thing is totally key to Sheppard writing poetry in any believable sort of way. I'm pretty sure he was horrified when he realized that's what he was doing, actually, but he's rationalized it by thinking, It's not like anyone but the shrink is ever going to see it, so it's not really poetry-poetry, you know?

But alas, that was before he met one Rodney McKay, publishing genius.

This was really fascinating (and I'm not just saying that because I, too, think that John would look smoking hot in glasses), and although it's great as a self-contained snippet, I would love to see more of it.

Thank you!

And I'm working on another little snippet as we speak. (As we write? As we post? Whatever. You get the gist.)
