So this song came up in my iTunes random play thing this evening, and though it's one I've loved for ages and ages, it struck me especially tonight.

As a fic type thing. As these things do. )

song rec, drabble, five-0, steve mcgarrett

I had never heard this song before, but it definitely gave me chills too. Very powerful. And your little drabble fits it perfectly :)

Oh man, that song suits Steve so well. I love your drabble; I'm also wondering, if I do some math, if Jack McGarrett served in the Vietnam war, and if maybe that's the bit he doesn't talk to his son about.

The math certainly does work out - Jack McGarrett could well have served in Vietnam.

That's an interesting thought.

This is amazing. I love that song. It could fit all my favorite fandoms, but is particularly appropriate for Steve. I love the drabble. I could also see it for John, Cam and Evan. Even for Ronon. Great drabble. It need to be longer.

You've given my brain too much fuel. It's ready to explode and now I have to go and do worky-work things. Gah!

It certainly could fit the SGA boys as well, but it really struck me for Steve. Can't you imagine something like this starting the beginning of an idea in his head, something that shapes his entire life?

Wow. This drabble read after listening to this song - wow.

I can see this happening. Especially with the canon piece we got - it really stood out to me how emotional Steve got when the old man remembered Steve's grandfather...

Thank you!

That's what I thought of, too - he clearly feels this connection to a man who died decades before he was born, and when I heard the song today, it really struck me.

:)
