Speech Two: What is this technology stuff?

Aug 03, 2010 13:25

This world really is most odd. People have told me that this is the ‘future’. It certainly seems full of strange things. Some of them, machines that move on their own, horseless carriages, images of people in boxes? I am most interested in finding out how such things came into being. They’re so very odd. I intend to. However I feel it is best when confronting something new, to see if there are any experts on the subject already.

I suppose that's not terrible advice. I think I've figure most of this stuff out. This place isn't really THAT much more advanced than my world. Just a few clever tricks they came up with that we never did.

Isn't it wonderful? The future, I mean! This place! With all its devices. It's incredible. I've been here for a few months now. What do you need to know?

It is most astonding. I would be grateful of anything you might be able to tell me.

Do you know how these devices are able to work?

Oh, I've figured a lot of them out, yes! Like... the icebox. And the oven. Oh, and the television! That's the best one.

I'm still trying to figure out the car. We had them in my time but they were nothing like this! I'm still working on how that operates. I know I'll get it soon.

May I ask what time you come from then, miss?

A lot of this stuff is pretty new to me, as well. Or at least not as sophisticated.

Go to a library.

I have. Unfortunatley the library is rather "restrictive" as to what books it contains.

wise_king August 4 2010, 00:20:32 UTC
And you would expect others to have such books if a resource of books doesn't have what you need?

Some people own books themselves. Which is why I was asking.

You would want to go to a library, then?

I tried there.

All I can find is books on cooking and gardening.

At least they don't have anything on English history.

Still, I believe they have a full interesting books about embroidery in there.

Why is that a good thiing?

Embriodery? Perhaps I should look again. However I was rather dissapointed in the contents of the library. I'm not quite sure how I will continue with my sudies here.
