I'm dubious about the holidays this year, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Although there is a frozen turkey in my freezer, the family hatched a Thanksgiving plot to do something different. This year we're doing and all amuse-bouche Thanksgiving. For those of you who do not watch copious amounts of Food Network, it's pretty much an ( Read more... )

COULD be interesting. I agree - I am curious if you will feel you've "missed something" when the day is over.

That sounds fun!!

And (for me at least) its not so much the food as the overall atmosphere. My first Thanksgiving with my fiancee was spent sitting on the floor (we didn't have a kitchen table) at the coffee table in front of the TV eating ham, mashed potatoes, and green beans (and sweet potatoe casserole for myself) while watching football. Not exactly the picture of Thanksgiving, but it felt right because I was with my loved one and giving thanks for all the wonderful things in our lives. Another year my family and I went to Disney/Epcot for Thanksgiving Day (park was empty) and had dinner in that nice Chinese restaurant at Epcot. It still felt like Thanksgiving (though it was kind of different celebrating Thanksgiving over egg foo young and with dragons and foo dogs watching you). :)

Yes, I think that's probably how we'll feel with this one. It's still going to be a bountiful meal with all the family. I've been thinking a lot about traditions, so it's an interesting experiment.

Thankfully, if we do, we'll have three more weekend days to make up for it. :)

It went wonderfully. There was probably more cooking but it was less stressful. The food was amazing and fun to plan and we were all much more relaxed than usual.

I keep meaning to post the pictures as promised...
