I'm dubious about the holidays this year, but Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Although there is a frozen turkey in my freezer, the family hatched a Thanksgiving plot to do something different. This year we're doing and all amuse-bouche Thanksgiving. For those of you who do not watch copious amounts of Food Network, it's pretty much an appetizer in one bite.
Now, actual food snobbery people would probably point out that having an entire meal of them either doesn't fit the definition or defeats the purpose, and they wouldn't really be wrong. However, this is a fun challenge. Each couple is doing three savory and one sweet.
While I don't know that I would be up for this being an every year tradition, although I'll save judgement for the day, it has been fun. Figuring out how to condense and idea and mix of flavors into a bite is challenging and fun. Not fighting for the same three ingredients every other household needs is a relief.
Family will all be in attendance, parades will be on the tv, as, I'm sure, will football, so the question is, will it feel like Thanksgiving? Or in the end will it feel like we missed something. I'm curious to find out.
