[Only one full day back on the job, and Javert's workload has already exploded exponentially. After essentially playing catch-up the best he could with the resources he had and juggling current cases that he needed to learn in a flash, he had been summoned to the courthouse to conduct interview panels for potential new officers by Franziska von Karma and Miles Edgeworth. It is not the most exciting work, but Inspector Javert certainly recognizes the necessity and importance of selecting suitable fresh meat for his team

[Sitting at the table of interviewers, Franziska was the first to greet the girl.]

Ms. Meryl Silverburgh. What a pleasure to see you here. I was under the impression you disliked what we did.

[Oddly enough, the young prosecutor is actually being quite kind.]

[Where Franziska is unusually polite, Javert is the antithesis of his superior. Rather he sits at her immediate right, back stiff as it naturally is, square jaw sealed tight. Yes, he knows Meryl and Naomi have reached an admirable reconciliation, but that has not changed Javert's opinion on this girl. Meryl may be able to feel a scrutiny akin to ice cold daggers turned on her, with Javert's lower lip slowly but perceptibly curling out and under like a dissatisfied ape's.]

[Well, it is about time he got himself a job, but more importantly, he needed a way to keep up with all the city news so he could unearth a way of leaving this place.

A job in the police force seemed to be quite a good opportunity.

So, at eight o'clock sharp, Jade strolls through the door. He is dressed as normal, with his crisp blue military uniform and hands firmly tucked into his pockets.]

[Ah, that is one way to stay on the petite woman's good side. Arriving on time will earn Jade points.

When he arrives to the table of interviewers, it is Franziska who greets him.]

State your name, your preferred position, and all previous experience.

[He nods politely to both of them in greeting.]

My name is Jade Curtiss. I'm a Colonel in the military forces of my home world, Auldrant. I have attended military school since I was 12, although I have also dabbled in sciences. While I do have some experience acting as a police officer and have made some arrests, most of my experience is onfield, in battle, although I have commanded landships as well.

[He pauses for a moment to consider.]

I've heard that the SWAT team is for more specialized on-field work, which does suit me. However, I am new to Somarium, so perhaps it's best to start off with a low-risk rank as I learn the law system.

[Tsubaki entered into the court house. She might not understand what's going on but she was called here. It's part of her responsibility to respond to duty calls. There's no questioning orders.]

[This is a woman Inspector Javert does not recognize. It is with good reason that he does not recognize a member of his own team: Tsubaki was hired by Franziska during Javert's extended leave time, which he had spent attempting to will his broken limb into healing itself. Needless to say, it did not put him back into the middle of the action any quicker.

It may come as a shock, then, for Tsubaki to receive such an intense, cold, piercing stare from a wolfish, intimidating superior she has not met. He has a severe yet extremely neat and professional manner about him, but he seemingly regards her as little more than a tally mark in a line of drones. From the moment she enters until her approach to the interview panel, a pair of colorless eyes scrutinizes her every step.]

Well? Who are you? [He demands with authority. The Inspector speaks as abruptly and coldly as he looks.] And what station do you want?

[She tenses up at his glare, but she understands his position instantly.]

My name is Officer Tsubaki Yayoi, sir. I was recently appointed the position, so it's not unusual for you to be unfamiliar with me.

If I may ask, which stations are currently available?

[The corner of Javert's mouth twitches into a grimace. He casts Franziska a glowering look through his lashes, out of the corner of his eye. His bearing is otherwise perfectly respectful.]

This girl is one of yours?

[Then evidently she doesn't need an interview like the others here. His lower lip pushes upwards to meet the bottom of his nose.]

You must have been given an assignment already. What is it?
