There was a certain teasing lilt to her voice, almost as if she had caught onto the fact that he was the owner, even if she had no idea. It was just how the brunette was. Swinging her legs where she sat, Izzy tipped her head at his book. "What're you reading anyway?"
Surprisingly, if he were to look, Desmond would notice absolutely no changes about Isabelle, despite his own target. It was something she was rather pleased about, after having seen quite a few of them on the way to the club.

Desmond closed his book and pushed it in front of Isabelle so she could read the title, knowing all too well that she'd make the connection about the book in an instant:
"Just something about the 19th century."

Standing up, Desmond walked closer to the counter:
"Can I get you anything? No alcohol, though, I'd rather not get into troubles with the law."

She leaned forward to peer at the book, nudging the cover open with two fingers so she could peer inside it momentarily. A small smirk played on her lips - Jessamine's work, of course. The pair of them were ridiculously close. Offering no comment as to the contents of the book, she nudged the book back towards him an inch or so where it lay on the counter, and folded her hands again under her chin.
"Just water, I guess," Izzy smiled, "If you were to ever spike it, though, I wouldn't say anything." Naturally, she was kidding - Isabelle had little inclination to drink outside any kind of celebration, and even then, she tended to stick with very little. A laugh following the amended comment gave away the tugging of his chain easily.
