Desmond was thankful for the quiet late afternoon at the club, especially after the long busy nights before Valentine's Day. Now the club was nearly empty, with only a few people here and there, playing pool or simply enjoying a drink after work. He was sitting at the bar, eyes lowered to one of the books Jessamine had given him for Christmas. While he wasn't a history junkie like Shaun, the bartender did enjoy learning about past eras and cultures and it was nice to know that if he ever wanted to discuss events or concepts from that time, he could always ask the blond Shadowhunter.
Leaning back against the counter behind the bar, his foot lightly tapped the beat of the soft rock playing in the background, he reached for his beer, careful not to reveal this new addition he had found on him that morning. No matter how hard he had tried to hide it, he was now walking around with a small target on his back. It was annoying, but even more so that the young man had no idea what it was there for. But obviously, it couldn't be for a good thing and he had been careful not to let too many people see it. The last thing he wanted was to be struck by an arrow. He took a sip from the amber colored liquid in his glass before putting it back down as he turned the page of his book. The cold draft hitting him as well as the door hinges creaking gave away that a new customer had come in and Desmond raised his gaze to the new comer. A small, barely visible smirk traced over his lips and he lowered slightly his book as Isabelle joined him at the bar counter.
"Hey. Aren't you afraid the owner is going to throw you out for being underaged?"
Too bad he never told her that he was the owner of the place and that as long as she didn't drink alcohol, he saw no problem in her hanging around at the club.
