"It is rare for Nessie to actually enjoy playing with other people. Most avoid her," a voice said behind him.

Unicorn had sensed him when he had entered the water and she had watched him. She could sense his pain, perhaps as much as Nessie had which was why the younger creature had gone to the silver haired boy. Unicorn had merely sat herself down and watched the two. She had even caught the sea monster's eye in her playtime and she brought the man over to her.

She gazed at him for a long moment, unaffected by his nudity but still.. she could sense something within him. When she had finally spoken she wondered if the boy would see her for what she was when he turned around. Nessie didn't have her problem after all. No one needed to believe in Nessie to see her. But Unicorn cared little if men saw her, it was not men that sought her out, though her ability calm and heal them was certainly not gender specific.

"You are troubled."

He'd been intent on finishing his work, thus the voice surprised him somewhat. Sword came immediately to hand, but seeing no overt threat, never left its sheath. But Sephiroth paused, puzzlement creeping over his face to see a talking animal nearby, addressing him rather intelligently.

Unabashed at his unclothed state, the tall General gave the creature a polite nod; some sort of equs, it seemed. Equines were rare in Midgar, but not totally unheard of. And the fact that this one possessed the ability to speak was indeed a novelty.

Nevertheless, it seemed this world was full of surprises, therefore Sephiroth resolved to puzzle it out later. For now, he stood unflinching and answered in his quiet baritone, "I admit I was surprised to encounter her in the lake." A glimmer of mirth sparked in deep green. "She was indeed a worthy companion."

The animal's latter comment sparked a tiny frown between his brows and Sephiroth paused. He'd come here to forget his troubles, by Shiva. Feigned nonchalance prompted the shrug of a ( ... )

"Put away your sword child," she said without even eying the masamune. What a silly sort of blade to wield. But all weapons were nonsense to her.

"The trifles of men are always fleeting," to her at least. She had seen enough wars and the petty fights to know that there was never any real reason for them. Some nonsense over land they didn't actually own, land that had been there before them and would be there after them. Or nonsense over love and religion or whatever else humans decided to fight about. Even having experienced love, she could not think about starting a war with someone over it, yet the Greeks went for one woman.

Unicorn merely gazed at the boy, sensing some sort of power in him but she paid it little mind. Rather she merely shook her head and started to walk away.

Hearing such from a beast prompted the slightest of grins. Oddly enough, he acquiesced with a gracious nod, lowering the sheathed blade to the carpet of green next to his coat.

Sephiroth watched her watching him, his own gaze curious as he gazed at the lovely thing. He'd never before seen the like and somehow doubted he never would again, outside of this strange new world. But then, perhaps the gilded creature was a prisoner here, just as all the rest.

It surprised him a bit when she said nothing more, but turned away, presumably to again disappear into the trees near the lakeshore. Some internal prod prompted him to gently call out, "Curiosity satisfied, gentle creature?"

It was destined to happen :| (sorry for the tl;dr XD) fairly_small February 8 2011, 21:33:06 UTC
Zack still didn't feel like he'd slept enough despite being in a coma for four days. Still, he insisted on taking Argo out for a ride, the horse hadn't been able to go out much since the blizzard, Yeti attack, and such. So Zack felt it his duty to take him out. He grabbed a hold of Argo's reins and gently nudged the dark horse from his stall. Once outside, Zack ran his fingers through the horse's white mane briefly before grabbing the saddle and hauling himself onto the horse ( ... )

Pulling on the second boot, the noise behind him had Sephiroth whirling to his feet, sheathed sword in hand. It wouldn't do to be caught unawares in this world, after all. But the Masamune remained in its casing as he spied the newcomers, a wiggly canine and a boy astride one of those large equines he'd seen here and there.

The pup's antics brought a half-smile to Sephiroth's face; he reached out a still-bare hand to ruffle her ears before glancing up at the youngster...and stared for a long minute. If he didn't know any better... But then again, this was a world full of impossibilities, he'd seen that first hand himself. So he resolved not to discount anything.

Still...the uncanny likeness was indeed startling. But he simply nodded a greeting and said quietly, "She's not a bother, don't worry."

Zack nearly got off Argo to stop Sephiroth from pulling his sword, but he didn't unsheathe it, so Ophelia was safe. Especially when the guy reached down to pet her. He caught the look Sephiroth gave him and grinned a little. "You know Zack Fair, right?" He laughed. "It's weird but uh, I'm Zack Fair too. From a different world and all though."

Man, if only he could know his world's Sephiroth. Now that would be so cool. "But you're Sephiroth, right? It's really weird, a lot people from your world is from mine too. Or... something like that."

He also really really wanted to ask if Sephiroth was a hero. But he barely managed to refrain.

The surreality was staggering, but Sephiroth did well to keep his expression carefully neutral. The more he listened, the more he could very well believe this was indeed Zack Fair; the chattering, the exuberance was exactly the same as the one he knew back from Midgar.

"It's confusing, I'll grant," he heard himself saying in answer. "I try not to think about it too much." Wasn't that the truth. He had headaches enough without trying to puzzle out the mechanics of this dream world.

"And yes, I'm Sephiroth." Or so he was the last time he checked. Still, a quandary..."If you're not from my world, young Zack Fair, then how do you know me?" That...was probably not the best question to ask, but he wouldn't take it back now.

This generally wasn't something she saw everyday. A pair of amber eyes quietly peered at the lake, then the man, amusement tugging at her mouth. For now she was silent, simply watching with a quiet amusement.

This wood had many interesting things in it, and it hardly surprised her to see another.

ShinRa had trained him well; Sephiroth knew when he was being watched. But the scrutiny didn't seem overtly hostile, thus he didn't hurry or immediately snatch up the sheathed Masamune. Rather, he took his time pulling on his boots, then unwound to his impressive height and shrugged into his coat, taking care to make sure all was adjusted properly.

Finally, he bent and retrieved the encased sword, casually tapping the ground with its point. A peculiar cynical mirth in his expression, feline aqua eyes perused the woods' border and his quiet baritone called, "I know you're there. Come out."

The witch shrugged, she expected as much. Quietly stepping into the light, her lime green hair brighter than the trees around her, eyes on equal par with the color of the sunlight. Her smile was enigmatic at best.

"I doubt using that on me would do much good. Enjoying yourself? I rarely see people around here these days."

Posturing he was not; the blade simply felt right in his hand. As if it was made for his touch. Hence he propped it on his left shoulder, watching quietly as the observer stepped from the forest's shade.

"I did, yes. Quite well. Nessie seemed grateful for the company." He didn't add, And I was near to losing my mind cooped up indoors. "The solitude is comforting."
