cid highwind ✈ ninth flight ✈ floating mountain assault

Jan 26, 2011 19:30

Who: Cid Highwind, Lightning, and everyone who volunteered + anyone else who wants to join
Where: THE FLOATING MOUNTAIN!
Style: First for ease
Status: OPEN.

Should anyone look toward where the floating mountain was being held "captive" just outside the barrier, they would more than likely see an amazing sight.

Flying high in the sky was the airship Dreamcatcher, launching off specially designed rockets at key locations. After those initial explosions, a small but powerful mass of fighters charged both through the sands of the desert and the grounds of the floating mountain to attack the ice and black goop that held the floating mountain in place. Lone figures could be seen flying through the skies atop other flying vehicles.

It didn't matter if they won or lost. They were taking a stand, and goddammit they weren't going to let anything stand in their way.

[ooc: Okay guys, this is it! Everyone OOCly knows that the ice/goop stuff won't break off completely, but that doesn't matter. Not only can they still a good deal of damage, there's still plenty for the characters to do before the yeti's next attack tomorrow night.

Everyone who was interested/responded to Lightning's post can consider themselves in. Just in case you were wondering.

So here's how the log is going to work. First of all, there will be two main threads that you can post under. Before I go into detail, just a quick note that characters can switch between sides. Don't worry about how one got up to the mountain or down to the ground-just handwave that they hitched a ride with someone who went down there. Now for who's doing what on each side:
  • CID'S TEAM: SKY/FLOATING MOUNTAIN: Basically, this group will be attacking from above, primarily the black goop from the floating statue. Now, while some can attack the actual black substance itself, characters can also go from the "ground" of the floating mountain and try to see what the hell that yeti did while it was on there. Expect to find a lot of massive debris. Any goop ice found on the floating mountain can break away to get through places. It's the larger stuff that's holding the mountain together that will eventually reform and cause problems. You can use this section for exploration purposes as well.

Characters in this group will have access to Cid's airship and the Skyrunners, which are basically like those special cool flying motorcycles. He's made more since the initial test run, so let's assume some number like. Ten-fifteen. So feel free to jack those and use them either above or below. Also assume anyone using these were given instructions, though you are more than happy to fail. (But if it gets wrecked, expect Cid to give them a beating yelling.)

  • LIGHTNING'S TEAM: DESERT GROUND: Lightning's group will be attacking the base of the ice that's formed over the sinkhole and created the huge giant pillar holding the floating mountain from below. Characters can also climb higher to help if they want, and like said above, anyone who has a Skyrunner or just the ability to fly can join down here.
Here are some other notes:
  • Desert Monsters. Now, before you go thinking "All we're doing is chipping ice? 8|", don't forget that this is taking place outside in the desert. That means no barrier, and that also means desert monsters will be around. These are optional, but keep that in mind if you want to spice up your threads.

There are also aerial desert monsters, so don't think those up in the sky or on the floating mountain are safe from any potential outside threads. NOTE: This does NOT mean there will suddenly be an army of desert monsters attacking the group. This is just a note that it's possible for the characters to run into a couple and are available in case players want to change up the threading and make things more interesting. I mean, you can only go so far in hacking away ice, right?

  • Ice/Goop will prevail. A final reminder about the ice: as noted in the Moon Cycle, it can be damaged. Characters will be able to deal massive amounts of damage, especially if they concentrate attacks. However, this thing is thick and hard, so there cannot be any one hit destruction. The ice and goop will regenerate; it just takes it a longer. Use this detail any way you want, but this is mainly serving as a reminder that the ice and goop can't be destroyed.

  • Police Force + Others. Even though Lightning's post was filtered away from the police, it's impossible to not have noticed the attack. So anyone from the police force is welcome to come in and do whatever they need to do. The same goes with anyone else who initially didn't sign up. Feel free to join in or actually try and deter the group.

OKAY THAT SHOULD BE IT. In case you're wondering, this log is already set during the attack. We thought it would be more effective (and faster/productive) if we skip whatever "intro" there is. Just handwave any weapon/vehicle issuing and whatever group assignments. We're all basically being a ragtag team of vigilante rebels here, who cares about order? Just pick a side and go go go!

BACKTAGGING WILL BE TOTALLY COOL SO DON'T WORRY!]
