Dino smiled at the memory, remembering the easy, trusting smile Lloyd had. It was why, after only one meeting and one phone call, he really thought he could count on him. He just had the look, the aura, of a loyal friend. Time would only confirm that.
Sure, the young boss was quick to approve of people, but he trusted his instincts, and he personally felt people who were friendly and open deserved the same. It made him happy to interact with people like Lloyd, where half the conversation was punctuated by happy smiles and laughing, no matter how bleak the situation might seem. Fay was like that too, which was exactly why Dino was considering asking him as well as Kurogane to join his family in Somarium.
It was part loneliness, part dependence. All of his training was useless as long as he stood alone. Dino's clumsiness always resurfaced, unable to take a few steps without tripping, unable to go outside without falling, dropping just about everything he held in his hands, even having fallen off the low bed each night at some point, hitting his head on the cold floor. Heh. While he was used to nursing constant injuries, who wouldn't prefer to be stronger if they had a choice?
He needed to gain family for strength, and Dino selfishly wanted one anyway for companionship. Of course, he could turn to Kyouya's mercurial company. Shouichi was also available, though he still had mixed feelings on the future ally of the Vongola.
Turning to glance at the clock, Dino grinned. It was almost time. Lloyd should be here any minute, and then he just had to wait for the right moment to pop the question!
He just hoped the boy wouldn't think he was crazy, or worse, turn him down.
