A knock came at the door of the empty office Frank had put aside for his cyborg comrade. Frank's voice followed the knock on the other end,

"Raiden. Are you still awake?"

Raiden glanced up from his poor excuse for a distraction to the knock at the door. When he heard Frank's flat voice drift in from the other side, he gave a low sigh.

"Of course," Raiden replied. "I am, Gray. Come in."

Frank opened the door and stood there, holding a bowl of stew in one hand. He took a step into Raiden's room, eyes adjusting instantly to the darkness.

He glanced over to the bowl and then to where Raiden sat. "...Can you eat?"

Raiden hesitated, gingerly setting his first knife back onto the floor. He plucked the cigarette out of his mouth.

"I don't know," he admitted truthfully. "I never tried. I didn't feel the need; I don't get hungry anymore." He eyed the bowl of stew meaningfully. It smelled delicious, much better than he'd eaten in quite a long time, even before he lost his organic body. "But I doubt it."

After dropping his faithful goat beast back off and discovering Raiden had never left after all, Ocelot moodily left the base before the cyborg could see him.

He'd have to sleep outside. ...Which wasn't an entirely bad thing. He had been planning on sleeping outdoors when he had the time since Big Boss was cool enough to rough it and he wanted to try the same things he did.

He walked out to a flower garden, closer to the base than the park and a bit more enclosed and comfortable. He picked a relatively cozy-looking patch of mowed grass and settled down, waiting for sleep.

Many hours later, Big Boss crept out of the house with a blanket tucked under his arm and a thermos in his hand. He knew the young man wasn't as accustomed to sleeping outside as he was.

It was only January. He might not be prepared for the cold.

If the lack of any dream from him being broadcasted to Big Boss' dreamberry was any indication, Ocelot hadn't fallen asleep. At the sound of footsteps behind him, he snatched a revolver free and pointed it up behind him at the source of the noise.

He turned his head enough to glance at Big Boss. "Ah. Didn't expect to see you here." He spun the revolver once and put it back, then sat up.

"I thought you might be cold." Tossing the blanket onto Ocelot's lap, Big Boss handed him the thermos of hot coffee before joining him on the ground.

"I know you aren't used to being outside all the time like I am."
