Sunny didn't realize that she was being followed until she heard the footsteps, and she froze, a chill going up her spine. If it was anyone she knew following her, she shouldn't have been hearing anything, especially if it was Snake or Frank. Snake told her there were dangerous people in this world. Maybe she really should have called him first!
Very cautiously, Sunny finally got the courage to peek over her shoulder behind her. She saw the woman standing there, and her eyes widened, and she quickly turned all the way around, not really believing what she saw at first.
"M-Meryl?" ... Well, ok, maybe she was supposed to call her "Mrs. Sasaki," but Snake called her Meryl all the time! A huge smile spread over her face. What a relief! She wasn't going to get kidnapped! "Meryl! Wh-When did you get here?"
Sunny just stared in somewhat stunned shock for a moment."You have...?"
But, how had she not seen her if she had already been there for so long? For sure, Snake or Naomi would have mentioned it, wouldn't they have? However, that wasn't what was confusing her the most.
"You d-don't remember me?" ... This made no sense. She was at her wedding. How could she forget?
(( ooc: Just throwing him here so then you can tell him how bad smoking is =3 ))
He finally reached the city and, boy, was he hungry. And that bakery just appeared right on time. So he's walking around, carrying a paper bag filled with delicious treats like these. He knows he shouldn't be spending his money before getting a job, but those looked so tempting...
He's alternating between taking a bite from one of those nice sweet breads and taking a drag from his cigarette. Yes, he smokes while eating. He's that weird. But he doesn't care, really.
And then, while doing that and thinking about where on Earth he's going to stay so then he can sleep and, possibly, live, he bumps into a little girl.
She was focusing so much on finding her way, she also didn't realize where she was going. She stumbled back as she was bumped, but she had been knocked a couple times by other people already and she had just kept going. She didn't expect to be spoken to. The crowds already made her uncomfortable enough.
She stared up at him, almost taking a step back and getting ready to run when she realized he was talking to her. The girl isn't bolting yet, but it looks like she's about to.
He takes a look at her. She looks awfully lost, so she's probably new to that place like him. Not he isn't lost himself, but at least he's a grown-up. He can look after himself just fine and find his way easily. It must be hard for a kid to get around that place though.
"Hey, hm, are you lost or something?" That didn't come out as nice as he intended to, but as long as she doesn't run away, it's OK.
She looks up at him for a long moment. Well... He hadn't tried to hurt her or anything yet. In general though, he didn't necessarilly look like the kind of person she should have been talking to by herself.
Even so, she silently shook her head. Her dreamberry was held tightly in her hand, with the map brought up on the screen. She was trying to use it to get home... But she was still getting turned around because of masses of people.
[It was pure coincidence that Naomi Hunter was currently moving quickly through that particular district on her way home from answering an emergency call from Somni`s hospital. With her thoughtful gaze directed forward, it was almost just as surprising that she had caught any sign of the small, but hauntingly familiar child on the opposite side of the road.
Luckily for Sunny, Naomi`s usually unbreakable concentration was not at it`s very best today. Thoughts and ideas immediately are dropped the moment she spots her. The woman`s dark eyes focus intently on the young girl before she smoothly crosses the street to get a better look at her.
Sunny had disappeared many months ago, much to the doctor`s disappointment, but her`s was a face Naomi wouldn`t ever forget. Even if the past she`d lived through before Somarium felt hazy and dreamlike compared to the dream world she was currently residing in.]
Sunny? [She may not be doing anything to hide her sudden confusion, but it doesn`t make the hope in her voice any less obvious. Why hadn`t
( ... )
[Sunny was trying not to stop for anything, partially as a defense. If she didn't aknowledge just how much was going on around her, it wouldn't end up getting to her. If she wanted to get home, she knew she had to stay brave to do it...
But then she heard someone call her name. That made her finally stop.] ...Naomi? [When she saw just who it was, she practically ran to close the gap, coming right up close to her. Safe base...]
Wh-what's going on? Where d-did all of these people come from?
[She still was convinced that this was like what happened with the Halloween mystery in the castle.]
[Naomi kneels down to the child`s level the moment Sunny approaches, reaching out to rest a hand protectively on her shoulder. There is a sweet swelling of happiness in her chest at the knowledge that the girl has really returned and is thankfully unharmed. That slight maternal instinct that had only barely peeked out during Sunny`s last visit had certainly been transformed in the last five months.
Though she has her own questions to ask, the woman is focused on soothing the girl`s fears and concerns first.]
Everything is just fine, Sunny. I know it`s a sudden change to see, but the city has grown greatly in the time you were gone. [Naomi gives her a soft, but encouraging smile.] A lot of good changes have been made.
[When Naomi came down to her level, she did relax a little. It didn't matter if she was afraid before. She found someone she knew, so there wasn't a reason to be on guard anymore. However, she's giving no hint that she's understanding Naomi at all. She couldn't even think of where to start questioning her.]
