[Minako noticed Shiki, and could tell something was wrong]

[It took her a while to notice that Minako was already addressing her directly. She pauses the music on her MD and takes of the ear buds so that she can talk to her friend properly. Ito tilts his head curiously at Minako and barks. New friend? o:]

Oh, Minako. [Rubs her eyes furious and tries to smile. It looks strained though.] Hi...

[Minako could tell something was wrong. She reached down to pet Ito (obviously more of a cat person, but...), and tried to be strong for her friend)]

Shiki-chan, what happened?

[Hiccups, burying her face into her free hand.]

[Sniffs, her voice was trembling.] He's gone...

You're crying.

[Ugh. It's this guy again. Tokito's probably the last person she would want to see her like this.]

[Sniff.] So what if I am? Come on, Ito.

[And Tokito follows, a tripping half-run-step forward that people do when they're left there standing and realise they really oughtn't to be.]

[Not bothering to turn around to answer him, her pace quickens. Ito was able to keep up with his master, though.]

None of your business! Leave me alone!

[Aya may not know Shiki very well, but tears were nearly universal. She pauses from her journey towards the grocery for tomorrow night's dinner ingredients.]

Shiki? Are you all right?

[That takes her by surprise. She gasps, taking off her ear buds again before talking to Aya.]

[Sniffles.] I'll be fine, Aya.

[She looks anything but fine. Ito barks, as if he's countering what Shiki said with, "No, she's not! D:"]

[That was not the same as "I am fine," and Aya knows it. But she also knows one's problems are just not something to be spilled on a whim, especially not to people who aren't close friends. And she knows the best thing she can do for now is to offer company and comfort-- and maybe after that a friendly ear. She smiles.]

[Near the center of Espoir, Chopin had been walking to buy more blank score sheets for his compositions. He stopped, however, when he saw Shiki coming down the road towards him. Part of the reason was actually because he could faintly hear the sound of some kind of music coming from her direction, but he couldn't understand what was making it... And it got louder as she came closer.

It was after he noticed the music that he began to realize that the girl walking towards him certainly did not seem to be doing well. His gaze at her changed from curious, to concerned.]

... Miss?

[He didn't realize that the music he was hearing was coming from the things in her ears, and that she may not hear him.]

[It was Ito who noticed Chopin first. He stops dead on his tracks and makes his way to the man, dragging Shiki along with him.]

Whaa, Ito! Wait!

[Finally the puppy comes to a full stop, looking at Chopin and barking at him.]

Oh. [Nervous chuckle.] I'm sorry, sir. I didn't see you there...

[He backed up a step, somewhat surprised by the dog, but when Shiki walked over to him as well, he smiled slightly back at her.]

It's perfectly fine, there's no need to apologize.

[His concerned expression came back quickly. He wasn't going to forget why he ended up calling out to her.]

Is everything alright? You seemed a bit... distracted. [To say the least.]

[She doesn't want to lie to her friend but telling her what happened would just hurt too much but Shiki chooses to tell her anyway. She did deserve to hear the truth, afterall.]
