[Near the center of Espoir, Chopin had been walking to buy more blank score sheets for his compositions. He stopped, however, when he saw Shiki coming down the road towards him. Part of the reason was actually because he could faintly hear the sound of some kind of music coming from her direction, but he couldn't understand what was making it... And it got louder as she came closer.

It was after he noticed the music that he began to realize that the girl walking towards him certainly did not seem to be doing well. His gaze at her changed from curious, to concerned.]

... Miss?

[He didn't realize that the music he was hearing was coming from the things in her ears, and that she may not hear him.]

[It was Ito who noticed Chopin first. He stops dead on his tracks and makes his way to the man, dragging Shiki along with him.]

Whaa, Ito! Wait!

[Finally the puppy comes to a full stop, looking at Chopin and barking at him.]

Oh. [Nervous chuckle.] I'm sorry, sir. I didn't see you there...

[He backed up a step, somewhat surprised by the dog, but when Shiki walked over to him as well, he smiled slightly back at her.]

It's perfectly fine, there's no need to apologize.

[His concerned expression came back quickly. He wasn't going to forget why he ended up calling out to her.]

Is everything alright? You seemed a bit... distracted. [To say the least.]

I-If you say so, sir.

Um, oh! [Removing her ear buds and turning off her MD.] I was just... [Sighs. She doesn't know what to tell this man.] I needed to-- [She sniffs, her tears falling again from her eyes.]

Ugh. Sorry... [Rubbing her eyes furiously with her hand.]

[The muffled music stopped? So it had to do with the strange device she was holding...]

[Chopin did not dwell on that thought for very long. The expression on her face was close to heartbreaking, and that only became more pronounced when she began to cry. There was a sharp stab of guilt in his chest.]

I--- Perhaps it shouldn't have asked. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to bring up something painful.

[He couldn't tell if it was right for him to inquire as to why she was crying now that he knew for sure something was wrong.]

It's okay. It took me a while to tag back everyone too. >w>;; gimme_ur_pants June 27 2010, 02:21:27 UTC
[Shakes her head. Trying to smile at him but it looks more pained than reassuring.]

No, it's okay. It's not your fault, sir.

[He could tell that she was trying too hard to smile. It just made him feel worse for her.]

... Is it too rude of me to ask what happened?

No, it's not.

... Someone I love very much disappeared from Somarium this morning.

[Sniffs, looking for something to wipe her eyes and nose with in her pockets.]

I-I guess I'm still in shock of everything.

[Horrible as it may have sounded... In an entire year of living within this world, Chopin had never found that someone truly important to him leave Somarium yet. However, while he was sure it would be little comfort, he knew that some people who left, were not gone for long.]

This world can be remarkably cruel at times, though... I know it feels terrible to lose someone, but there is also the comfort of knowing that they also may return someday.

[Shiki knew this because she had experienced it herself. She disappeared from Somarium and returned after two weeks had passed (with Riku looking for her all those months ago.). She also had a friend who disappeared and came back with her memories of this world in tact. But on the other hand, Yosuke had been in this world before and he had no memory of it.

All of these things went through her mind when she and Ito prepared for their walk today.]

So... it's okay for me to want to wait for him to come back?

[She's not ready to let go of him yet. Although staying in the apartment they once shared was going to be difficult. And she knows it sounds selfish but what else is she going to do? She's at a lost right now.]

Of course it is.

["Him"... Clearly, this was more then a lost friend. There was no question that Frederic would never call it selfish to wish to remain with a loved one. Though, the fact that that was her answer, he wondered just how many things must be plaguing her at the moment.]

[What Frederic said made Shiki smile. So it's really okay for her to wait for Riku. Just as long as she can.]

Thank you.

[He smiles back gently, seeing the change in her expression.]

You're very welcome.
