Easier, but not thorough. And they are very protective of their workers' privacy.

[Javert isn't exactly fully satisfied with their options, but what choice does he have?]

It will give us a start. [swirls his coffee. He has his ways of getting 'supplemental information' about lab employees, anyway.]

[Unfortunately for the two men, the silence they were enjoying was about to be very rudely interrupted.

It was almost immediately as the Chief Inspector had begun to relax that through the doors to the office stepped inside a woman. Though she may not have been young anymore, Naomi held herself just as proudly as she had since the day she entered college. She knew her worth, which was a great deal, and wouldn't let anyone forget that she was more than likely much more intelligent than they were.

Without hesitation, the small woman stomped loudly across the room and grabbed for the mug in Javert's grip, glaring daggers up at him. Her rage was beyond words.]

You do realize what time it is, don't you? Three hours since you were supposed to be home. Three! I know I didn't replace the batteries in your watch last week just so you could ignore your responsibilities outside of this office. The family you can't seem to make time for! [Javert somehow knew that his moment of silence was too good to be true. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned: his loving wife is definitely an expert at proving that idiom true time and time again.

And yet, he takes the tirade like a champ, his gaze unflinching, his lip merely curling at the annoyance of having his coffee snatched away from him.]

I'm not suffering from senility yet. [With a roll of his eyes, he flashes his left hand (with a small wiggle of his fingers) to Naomi, proving that yes, he still wears it, damn it. He lowers his arms to the desk.] Apparently my receptionist is blind. That would explain the atrocious spelling errors on my report copies.

[Her dark gaze may have flickered down to see the ring sitting firmly and securely on his finger, but the woman had honestly never doubted her husband in that respect. She knew he hadn't kept his family a secret to others on purpose. That was just the way he was. Javert was a private man, something she usually understood and found comforting.

Sadly, Naomi was in a mood where no answer would please her.

Dropping the mug carelessly onto Javert's desk, coffee rushing to spill over the rim onto his work space, Naomi's angry expression remained unchanged.]

Well, that explains one of my questions. You aren't senile enough to have forgotten the others, correct?
