It was only there for a flash -- a moment of warmth -- before it suddenly disappeared, suppressed when it encountered Kisame's signature.

This chakra signature -- it was too familiar, and he knew just from the edges of his own brushing against it, that it wouldn't be friendly.

"Well, well, I certainly wasn't excepting any other ninja besides Itachi around here."
He wasted no time in tracking the other ninja down, swiftly jumping on top of low roofs and slipping quietly into the darker corners of the area.

He hoped luck was on his side and the confrontation would result peacefully -- hoped that this chakra which spiked and stabbed and cut hard like a bad landing in rough water, didn't belong to someone he'd killed in the twenty-four years that he'd been a ninja. And even if it did, he hoped, too, that here in this place that was so peaceful, they could let things go -- there was no point in fighting if you weren't even alive, right?
That is, unless that particular soul wanted retribution, and wanted to wipe Kakashi's existence out completely.
The jounin hid himself carefully, then suppressed his chakra levels and all other signs of his existence completely.
Then, he waited.

He closed his eyes, allowing his own energy to respond, fanning out and touching the searching chakra. And then he waited. If Kisame felt his reply, he would know soon enough.
