Kisame had Samehada slung over his shoulder, partially unwrapped and dripping with a dark liquid-y substance. It may or may not have been blood. It may also have been mud, but who knows, right? The majority of his face was hidden

It was only there for a flash -- a moment of warmth -- before it suddenly disappeared, suppressed when it encountered Kisame's signature.

This chakra signature -- it was too familiar, and he knew just from the edges of his own brushing against it, that it wouldn't be friendly.

"Well, well, I certainly wasn't excepting any other ninja besides Itachi around here."
He wasted no time in tracking the other ninja down, swiftly jumping on top of low roofs and slipping quietly into the darker corners of the area.

He hoped luck was on his side and the confrontation would result peacefully -- hoped that this chakra which spiked and stabbed and cut hard like a bad landing in rough water, didn't belong to someone he'd killed in the twenty-four years that he'd been a ninja. And even if it did, he hoped, too, that here in this place that was so peaceful, they could let things go -- there was no point in fighting if you weren't even alive, right?
That is, unless that particular soul wanted retribution, and wanted to wipe Kakashi's existence out completely.
The jounin hid himself carefully, then suppressed his chakra levels and all other signs of his existence completely.
Then, he waited.

Samehada's bandages unraveled slowly as he came closer to the area where he assumed the other ninja was. He felt his blood boiling at the thought of finally fighting someone without having Itachi pull him out of battle prematurely.
But despite his excitement, he stood calmly and silently in the opening where Kakashi could see him clearly.

Kakashi wondered who made sushi out of Itachi's former partner, then wondered if Itachi had any idea that he was even here. This... was going to definitely be a little more trouble than he expected.
Especially if Kisame had no idea that he was even dead.
Kakashi sighed, considering his options. He could evade, and find Itachi, as much as that was the last thing he wanted, and have the Uchiha deal with it -- or he could deal with Kisame himself.
It didn't take him too much thought to come upon an answer.
Looks like he'd have to go fishing by himself.
Kakashi loved fish. But he wasn't a fan of fishing. Too much work, really.
He let his chakra unfurl from him slowly, keeping it steady and cautious, but not with any kind of malicious intent as he slid out of the shadow of the trunk of the tree he'd hidden himself in, and onto the branch, casting a quiet, grey eye down on the Akatsuki member from his vantage point.

But rude or not, Kisame didn't mind. He just looked up slightly and grinned.
"So, if it isn't the Copy Cat Ninja," he said, already feeling the snark welling up inside of him. "I was hoping it was the other idiot with the poor excuse of a haircut, but I suppose you'll do."
His grip on Samehada tightened.

Oh, right. Gai.
Konoha's very own green beast.

"I don't have any intention of fighting you. It's pointless, seeing as we're both, well. Dead."
Reply
"And what makes you think that we're 'dead', hm? I don't remember dying by anyone's hand."

His arm dropped to his side then as he just stared rather impassively down at Kisame.
"If you don't remember dying, then that means you had a brutal death. Those of us who died quietly, remember how we died. Those of us who didn't... don't remember much at all. Saa... It's just too bad that we have to share the same afterlife. I suppose there isn't a... mmm... aquarium more suitable for you."

As for the Yondaime statement... Kisame just decided to ignore that one. He wasn't sure how to reply to such a dumb statement like that, anyway.
"I assure you, I've realized that this isn't the same world," replied Kisame. "And I double assure you that I remember everything perfectly... without dying.
Kisame couldn't choke down the laugh that came along with that statement. The last thing he remembered was telling Itachi that he was going to take a quick nap. He also managed to ignore the aquarium comment as well, even if a muscle near his eye twitched irritably.

His limbs seemed to grow even more relaxed as even caution slightly ebbed from his chakra signature -- or at least, it would've felt that way to Kisame.
"They say ignorance on fire is better than knowledge on ice, anyway. You can be a shining example of it."
Kakashi wasn't really counting on Kisame to actually understand what he meant.

"Have you ever thoguht that maybe you're the ignorant one?" As he said this, he pulled Samehada off his back, and menacingly pointed it in Kakashi's direction.

The jounin quirked a brow slightly as he studied the slightly agitated fish below him, then sighed.
"Maa..." It wasn't really an answer.
"Either way, as I said before, I don't have any intention in fighting you, so you might as well put that down." His eye was trained on the Samehada, hitai-ate still lowered.
Reply
"I believe this fight was inevitable," he replied, his voice low.
With a lightening quick swing of Samehada, he broke the tree that Kakashi was sitting on in half.
