It was not every day that one found a man sleeping on the ground.
It certainly wasn't every day that one found a man sleeping on the ground in such inadequate attire. Wasn't he cold in that? Omi paused in his run of errands to stare at the snoozing figure further down the road. He'd never seen the man before, so it was possible he'd only just arrived.
The man's questions to the air after he woke seemed to confirm as much. With a small smile, Omi walked over and offered a hand of assistance in standing.
The newcomer looks up, blinking his violet eyes, then smiles and takes the offered hand. "Thanks, and yeah, it's a bit of a shock, falling asleep in one place and waling up in another," he says.
Omi is struck at first by the violet eyes, reminded of Aya's. He blinks but shakes it off quickly, smiling more broadly. "At least you didn't end up in the middle of a scarecrow field. I'm Omi. What's your name?"
“It isn’t that bad… until you discover the scarecrows are alive. They really surprised me!” An admission that perhaps qualified for Understatement Of The Year.
“This world is called Somarium. Many of the people you meet here are visitors, like you and me. It’s not possible to control arriving or leaving, but it doesn’t seem to affect anything in the world you’re from.”
"Living scarecrows? What is this, like being inside a movie or something?" he asks, still with the nervous chuckle. "So you mean I'm...stuck here?" That's more worrisome than the spooky scarecrows and the cute wibble might be a bit more fearful.
"Ah, not quite, although it can seem that way sometimes." Omi admits, opting not to go into any of the wilder events of his time there. Tsuzuki seems upset enough already.
"Unfortunately, you are a little stuck, but it really isn't so bad. A little like... an unexpected vacation, I suppose."
"Maybe," Omi answers. It's nice and noncommittal for someone whose life he really knows nothing about.
"In any case, it's best to take it in stride as much as possible. You won't miss anything from your own world in the meantime. Residential buildings are available for the duration of your stay."
He breathes easier. "That's good to hear: I mean, I was getting over a bad accident in my world, and I wouldn't want them to be worrying about me," he says.
"Really? Hah... I guess that means anyone can wake up here," he says. And he can't help wondering if, or hoping rather, Hisoka will find a way here. "Or maybe I mean 'fall asleep here'," he adds, chuckling.
"That's right. Even people that... shouldn't still be alive." Omi grows somber as he thinks about that fact, eyes lowering to the ground. "Time works strangely here. It's best to be prepared for the possibility. You might meet someone you never thought you would again."
"Huh... well, I have some family members that I lost a long time ago, and there's someone waiting for me at home whom I'd miss," he says, thoughtfully. "Maybe they'll find their way here."
Omi is immediately made uncomfortable by the mention of lost family members, particularly in conjunction with the thoughts already going through his own mind. Without even realizing it, he's shutting down from the conversation.
He looks at the young man, concerned and he might step closer, trying to find his gaze with his own. "You okay there? You seem kinda distant all of a sudden," he says. "Was it something that I said?"

"New? It's a little disorienting, isn't it?"
