Linkin Park came on my Winamp as I finished this O_oamorallygreyOctober 2 2011, 05:25:21 UTC
[Respect for the space is exactly why Nagi chose the church for their meeting. It's public and he's not the type to enjoy making a mockery of something he enjoyed for a far-too-brief point in his life. He hasn't been in one in a long time either, mostly for the same reasons as Ken even if he doesn't know that yet.
The memories are almost painful as they come back to him, even though the strongest ones are the happiest ones and not the thoughts of Ken killing Sister in front of him, breaking the promise not to betray her.
When he sees Ken, he lifts his head and steps closer, not making any attempt at violence.]
[Sound is amplified in places like this. Steps echo, voices carry. Perhaps it's supposed to encourage people to stay silent and still - he doesn't know. All Ken's sure of is that though he hasn't tried to look round, he's not alone any more, and that whoever is with him they are walking slowly and standing calm. He doesn't turn until Nagi breaks the silence, and even then--
[For a long, awkward moment, it's all he can think of to do. Just turn around and look at him... even that's harder than it should be, even that makes him want to bolt. Ken settles for looking at the flagstones.]
Oh.
[You can do better than that, Hidaka. You've got to.]
[If Ken looks up, he'll notice that there's less hate in Nagi's eyes than there was at the tower. That was nearly 3 years ago to Nagi, after all, and a lot's happened since then. He still holds that grudge, but it's not as intense as it once was thanks to time and the truth coming out.
A soft breeze rustles the air between them to make the awkward moment marginally less silent. Nagi nods once and takes a slow breath.]
He apologized for getting me involved at all...apparently Weiss tries not to involve innocents in their work.
[But still, one question eats at his mind and heart. He can't bring himself to ask it just yet.]
[Not that it did Nagi any good. Him and a lotta people who should never have gotten mixed up in Weiss's messes...
[He still doesn't look up. He simply can't bring himself to. The whole thing's uncomfortable enough without that damn breeze tugging at his hair and here they are in the middle of a church. He knows damn well this kid hates him and honestly? Ken doesn't blame him for that one for a second. He'd hate himself if he was in Nagi's place, not that he even has to be there to manage that one.]
You shouldn't have gotten involved. It shouldn't have happened like that.
